This is a Trusted Review. Why?

OUR ADVICE IS SPEND AN EXTRA 1000 PESOS A NIGHT AND STAY ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE!
We have been travelling for nearly 9 months and this is by far the worst hostel we have stayed in!
While we were there 2 laptops and various amounts of money were stolen, there are no lockers at all to keep anything safe and the staff dont give a damn about anything.
There is a very grotty kitchen/laundry room but the washing machine didnt work.
The showers are practically above the toilet seat with no curtains, huge gaps under the doors and NO HOT WATER except on 1 day out of the 6 we were there where if you had the smallest trickle you could just about feel some heat.
The staff live in the large dorm room with the guests and dont care what time they wake you up in the mornings banging around.
The 3 small children also sleep with them and one in particular is very grouchy and screams most of the night.
The staff refuse to get up once they have gone to bed to let anyone in meaning you can ring the bell and bang on the door for up to half an hour before another guest gets fed up and lets you in, we experienced both ends of this!
The bunks are triples and have the hardest mattresses of anywhere we've stayed, so much so that i actually had bruises on my hips and back from lying on them.
There is no heating and no where warm to sit in the evenings when it gets bitterly cold, only the outdoor courtyard where people gather to chat, drink and smoke copious amounts of marijuana.
There is no drug control here whatsoever and we saw guests even taking cocaine!
After the first night we would have left to find somewhere else except that they demanded full payment upfront for the 6 nights we had booked and would only return half if we left which we could not afford to lose.
Besides this they tried to over charge us anyway and we had to show them 3 times the price on our confirmation on the internet and that we had already paid 10 %.
There is no breakfast as advertised and out of the 6 or so people 'working' there only one actually does anything and the others just live there for free and sit and watch TV all day. The owner, a man, is only interested in going out and getting drunk with the guests, as soon as there is a problem he disappears, as in when the police arrived when the 2nd laptop was stolen.
They clearly know nothing about running a hostel, one night they overfilled the dorm room and we had to share a bed as did 2 others, another night a couple arrived at 2am after travelling all day and the staff wouldn't get up to let them in, show them their room or anything.
They had booked a private room but ended up sharing it with someone already sleeping in there and left early in the morning without paying any more than the 10% online, which I cant say I blame them for!
The only redeeming feature is that the Wifi is ok (when the children dont pull it out the socket) and that it is in a reasonable location in the Candelaria district where there are plenty of cafes etc as although advertised, there isn't one at the hostel.
