The Surf Pad

I stayed with my son Max (12, a keen surfer) for five days in June 2011. The Surf Pad is a wonderful place. Among its many bright features are large rooms and, from the deck, great views. It has a laid back feel yet is well maintained.

About The Surf Pad

The Surf Pad is an off the beaten track and discreet destination yet within easy walking distance of shops, attractions and the beach!

It has three large apartment style rooms. The largest contains two king size beds; one in it's own separate loft. The middle room has two very comfortable beds (one queen and one king), and the last room has one raised king size bed, all rooms also contain a fold down sofa bed.

Each room is large, clean, and luxurious with a full service washroom, large flat screen TV, full cable access, DVD player, sound system, air conditioning, refrigerator access, and wireless internet.

All rooms face the ocean and are connected to a large sundeck with an outdoor sound-system. You can see the surf conditions in the morning and watch a gorgeous sunset in the evening without even leaving your room!

Surfboards are available for rent. Surf lessons are offered as well. If surfing isn't your thing, Jet Skis, Kayaks, and snorkeling equipment are all available for rent, too! A communal scooter is available free of charge.

The atmosphere is friendly, easygoing, and laid back. English, Chinese, and Taiwanese speaking. Want a guided van tour of the area? We can do that too! Just mention it in advance and it will be arranged - see 'hostel conditions' information on this site for further details.

Guests will need to pay half of the total cost (10% to hostelworld.com inclusive) to secure booking.

i.e. pay 10% deposit to hostelworld.com, and pay 40% of the total cost via Paypal to Surfpad.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

I stayed with my son Max (12, a keen surfer) for five days in June 2011. The Surf Pad is a wonderful place. Among its many bright features are large rooms and, from the deck, great views. It has a laid back feel yet is well maintained. The location is not the best if you do not have transport because there is not much to walk to, aside from a beach. Note also that this is not a bed and breakfast but an arrangement in which you buy your own stuff, which is easy to do at the 7-Eleven nearby.

Would I return? For sure. The Surf Pad is quiet and off road. And I add that the person who runs the Surf Pad, Achi, is a splendid man: kind, helpful, generous, interesting, and resourceful. Both Max and I became very fond of him. He did everything he could to make our stay happy. We felt sad to leave!

Highly recommended. If you are fed up of the anonymity of hotels, the Surf Pad is the place to stay.

This place is incredible! Fantastic rooms! The owner is so accommodating and a great guy! Would definitely stay again! Shouldn't be called a hostel because it's so much more than that, best hostel I've ever stayed at! Awesome!
