Riad Jakoura

The Riad could not have been better value for money. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our four day stay from the moment of our late evening arrival to our late night departure. Hamid, Rachid (apologies for the spelling?) and his staff were friendly, courteous and extremely helpful.

About Riad Jakoura

Riad Jakoura can accommondate up to 11 guests in 5 rooms, 4 of which have air conditioning and a very nice view from the roof terrace where you can relax and enjoy the sun.

Located in the district of Bab Doukkala and easily accessible, it is just 10 minutes from the souks and the Place \'Jemaa El Fna\', at the end of a derb (alley medina) calm; it is very close to the main square \'Jemaa El Fna\'. On the terrace you will find the living room, Berber tent, chairs and bar

Discover the Moroccan cuisine, served in the dining room, patio or terrace. The Art Deco furniture blends beautifully with Moroccan art and gives this home a great character.

All the monuments of the old town are very close, the house is an exceptional starting point from where one discovers the entire city easily. Taxi rank nearby the riad.

The Riad could not have been better value for money. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our four day stay from the moment of our late evening arrival to our late night departure. Hamid, Rachid (apologies for the spelling?) and his staff were friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. Our room with ensuite was of good size, well appointed in traditional style and, most important, a very comfortable bed.
The location is very good for all the main attractions within the Medina but was remarkably quiet at night and in the early morning.

This is the first time we have put a review on Travellerspoint but we felt that Riad Jakoura deserved it. When we arrived we were greeted by an incredibly friendly team, which set the tone for the rest of the stay. They were always on hand to offer useful advice about the city and it's attractions.

We also went on a three day tour to the desert organised by Hamid, the owner, which was hassle free and well priced, we thought. It was an amazing experience that was a highlight of our trip.

We would thoroughly recommend this Riad and will definitely stay here again next time we're in Marrakesh.

We struggled to find this riad from the directions that were given and in the end the manager came and met us on the street. The manager was friendly but seemed a little strange. He seemed to invite a bunch of his friends over in the evening and complained that Spanish people aren't welcome because they don't always pay.

The rooms was ok - not the best we've stayed in - and the bathroom wasn't great. The toilet wasn't actually fully connected to the wall!

We only stayed one night and were gone early in the morning so I don't know what breakfast was like or anything else. There was free internet. I wouldn't rave about this place but it was ok for what we paid.

I stayed in the Riad several days with my nephew. We enjoyed it very much. Hamid and the rest of the staff gave us many informations about things to see and places to go in Marrakech and we did the desert tour with them. Fantastic! A very nice and familiar place to stay.

Riad Jakoura is a wonderful place!! We stayed there during the volcano disruptions and the staff could not have been more helpful, they made us feel completely at home and went out of there way for us on severel occasions.

The Riad is a twenty five minute walk from the square so it can be hard to find but if you have any problems just give them a call and they will come and get you. Beware that there is not a sign over the door so you have to find the number and knock on the door.

A fantastic guesthouse! We stayed for two nights and received outstanding service. The staff; Hamid, Rachid and Sara made us feel at home, were very informative and kept the 'Moroccan whiskey' (aka mint tea) and sheesha on constant offer:) I highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone visiting Marrakech. Hamid is a true gentleman and will help you out with anything you need. Thanks for a great stay guys.

The staff, Hamid, Rachid, and Fatima, are amazing! So nice! Always seeing if they can do anything for you, and offering you mint tea. The place is modest, but adorable and clean. The showers aren't hot, I would say luke warm, but it wasn't a problem. I would definitely come back again, a great price for towels and breakfast included, plus all the free mint tea and shisha you could want! I would definitely recommend the airport pickup the first time, it's a little hard to find the first couple times around, but I like the Medina location, about 15 minutes from the main square. A great budget hotel, with seriously the best staff.

The staff are very sociable and very helpful. They provided alot of information with where you could go, sites to see, what a reasonable price was for gifts and items when shopping in the souks.
Hotel was a very reasonable price, and it felt very homely and welcoming.

Julie and Tania, both middle aged women, had our first stay in Marrakesh March 2010. We chose Riad Jakoura because of the reviews. We wanted a Riad to experience the real Marrakesh. We immediately fell in love with the Riad and staff. They were helpful and friendly. The accomodation was basic but very clean. We would definately recommend it to fellow travellers who want to experience Morocco. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the main square but only 10 to get to the start of the souqs. Hamid, the manager speaks very good English and does trips to the desert which we plan to do next year. The terrace only has views of the rooftops but is great to relax and catch some sun.

A fantastic stay in Riad Jakoura. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and made our stay all the more enjoyable. The manager, Hamid, told us as soon as we arrived "you're at home now, you can relax" and this was certainly true of this riad. Hamid and Rachid spent a lot of time chatting with us, pointing out attractions on the map they provided, making us complimentary mint tea and giving us tips on how to avoid the many tourist traps in Marrakech. They even brought out a shisha/hookah and flavoured tobacco for us to try! Sadly as we don't speak French we didn't get to know the lovely lady who prepares breakfast. We were also able to arrange a Sahara Desert tour through Hamid, and it was great to have him as our tour guide. The hot water in our room didn't last that long (I asked other guests and they didn't have the same issue so it might have just been our shower) but the room was beautiful, very clean and spacious, and the riad also has a great terrace, very nice included breakfast, and a kitchen for guests to use. One of our favourite places in Morocco, and we would definitely return to the riad if we are ever back in Marrakech! Would certainly recommend!
