first,too many stairs to climb...and then some.
Wasn't allowed to stay for one night,had to stay for two which upset my travel plans.
Lounge was nice.
But I didn't like the guy who runs it.I felt uncomfortable when he was around.Like I was being scrutinised.
Overall the staff were helpful enough when i needed info.
But this place wasn't my cup of tea.

Poets' Corner is a small, homelike hostel right in the historic centre of Olomouc.
We offer both shared and private rooms. The rooms are all big and colourful and we guarantee our dorm beds to be the best value accommodation in Olomouc.
The private rooms all have real double beds and can be Twins, Doubles, Triples or Quads (just send us an email if your first choice is not available here).
Olomouc is the second oldest and second largest historic preservation area in the Czech Republic (after Prague). It's also the country's biggest university town by percentage of population. So there's plenty to see and do and loads of young English-speaking locals to meet.
Another thing about Olomouc is that it's in Moravia, which is older and better preserved than Bohemia. It's half the size, but has seven UNESCO sights to Bohemia's five, for example. Easy daytrips include Bouzov castle, Kroměří and Litomyl (both UNESCO), Javořicko caves and cycling out to the lake.
All guests receive our 'Treasure Map' of Olomouc, with handpicked recommendations for the best restaurants, bars and sights. We can also tell you about festivals, concerts, walking tours, and will do our best to help you get the most out of your stay.
Sometimes we require a minimum stay of two nights. The hostel is for people who want to see Olomouc, and that takes at least a couple of days. So we make sure that not all beds are taken by transit travellers just breaking a trip. We don't take school groups for the same reason. Sorry.

*New Year's Eve*. University town Olomouc is a great place to be for New Year's and we still have space available, but are only accepting reservations through our own website, because it's not cool for everyone to cancel on the 30th like happened last year. Thanks.
*Ice Hockey* Olomouc is in the 1st league of the National competition and home games are on Nov 25, Dec 2, 6, 9 and 14. Entry is less than 2.5 Euros and the guys can always use extra fans...

Directions
We recommend taking the tram into town as the train and bus stations are 30-40 minutes walk from Olomouc centre:
FROM THE BUS STATION
*go through the underpass and cross the tracks, buy a 12Kc ticket from the machine; Catch tram #4 to Namesti Hrdinu (7stops) then follow the directions below.
FROM THE TRAIN STATION
* Buy a 12Kc ticket from the machine; Catch tram #4, 5, 6, or 7 to Namesti Hrdinu then follow the directions below:
* Get off at Namesti Hrdinu
* Walk toward the red dome (away from the red church).
* We are to the right of the UMBRO shop at Sokolska 1.
* Buzz POETS CORNER doorbell and we will let you in.
Obviously it's easier to find your way if you arrive before dark. If you must arrive late, we recommend printing the map from this website.
If you choose to take a taxi from the train station, the fare should be about 100Kc.
Please understand that in such a small homelike hostel it's not practical to have credit card facilities on the premises. We'll ask you to pay in Czech crowns cash upon arrival, so please have enough with you to pay for your entire booking plus an extra 200Kc as a key deposit (which you will receive back when you return the keys on your last day).
If you're coming from the east and Olomouc is your first stop within the country, fear not, for there are bank machines both at the train station and at the tram stop where you will get off in the centre.
