Budget Accommodation Europe Croatia Split Apartments Studio at Diocletian's
I am a single woman traveller in my 20s. In my point of view, this place is excellent!!!!! It is situated inside the Palace, so everything is close. I don not feel any fear even in the evening because the inside the town is safe.

The STUDIO APARTMENT (about 20 sq metres) faces a large garden, and it is bright and airy (a rarity as buildings within the palace are built close to each other). Guests have use of the kitchen (fridge, stove and utensils) and the en-suite bathroom.
The PRIVATE SINGLE (about 8 sq metres) is bright and has a single bed and an en-suite bathroom. (Please note: This room has NO KITCHEN facilities.)
(The Studio Apartment and Private Single Room have their separate entrances but they are on the same level. For families of a max. of 4 people, it is ideal to book both the apartment and the room.)
Studio at Diocletian's is located at 20 Dominisova (2nd Level), within Diocletian's Palace.
Upon arrival in Split town, make your way to the Peristil (in Diocletian's Palace). Find 'Dioklecijanova Ulica' (Diocletian Street) and walk towards the Golden Gate. At around 15 meters, make a right turn to 'Dominisova Ulica'. Our place is on the right after 5 meters. The building faces a garden.
Please note:
1) The GPS coordinates of the place is inaccurate. We are located right smack in the centre of Diocletian's Palace.
2) Arrangements are always made via e-mail and mobile telephone SMS for a person to meet guests at the Peristil, outside the Luxor restaurant. Guests will then be led to the apartment/room. This method has proven to be easier for both guest and personnel.
3) From Split Airport, take the Airport Bus that goes direct to Split town. From where it stops, just walk towards the Peristil (located within Diocletian's Palace walls). Where you will be met and led to your room.

I am a single woman traveller in my 20s. In my point of view, this place is excellent!!!!! It is situated inside the Palace, so everything is close. I don not feel any fear even in the evening because the inside the town is safe. Yes, the stairs is dark, but immediately after you are stepping inside, very bright light turns on automatically, so it is no problem!! The room is small, but because of the siye, it will be warm very soon after you switch on the heater. And the shower!! The water is always enough hot, one of the best hot shower I had during my travelling
The room is clean, and close to the green market and bus terminal. If you are thinking to visit Split, I am sure this is the best place to stay for everybody!!
This is a Trusted Review. Why?
I have had a nice time and a good welcome a the Diocletian Studio's. The location is perfect and beautyfull! I have stayed in a single room and was surprised by the big bed :-). It was clean and just enough for one, but two people could stay there too! Thanks Amy!
This is a Trusted Review. Why?
This room is very good value, but will not suit everybody. First, the location is excellent only about 50 metres from the cathedral in the Diocletian's Palace. Rooms in the palace tend to be a hit or miss affair because the structure is so old and like a rabbit warren, which is of course it's charm. Some rooms are musty, without modern facilities and not very pleasant.
Access to this room is via an old narrow staircase with a room off at each level. It has automatic lighting and is freely accessible by anyone from the external passageway. There are three flights of stairs to this room; not a major challenge for many but worth mentioning. Lone females may feel vulnerable in these areas but I suspect the layout is typical. There is a good lock on the room door.
This room is basic but has been updated with new plaster/paint and a modern en suite. The room is about 12' x 7' with 4' wide comfortable bed, wardrobe, chair, freestanding electric fan and small cupboard unit. There is one electric socket and a 4 socket cord extension provided. There is an opening window with no view, but this and the fan meant room temperature was pleasant in June. There are no kitchen facilities (as advertised), not even a kettle. Towels supplied.
The ensuite is modern but access is very cramped, separated from the room by a concertina door. Getting past the toilet to the basin and large shower would be a real challenge for larger people. There is currently no mirror, shelves or shower curtain in the ensuite. There is, however, an electric water heater tank which was perfectly adequate for showers etc.
In summary, a clean basic but updated room in a very old building with a rather dingy (but clean) shared access. All those responsible for arrangements and taking me to the room could not have been more pleasant and welcoming. Thank you.
