Damira Rooms

Stayed in the Damira Rooms in mid-September 2010. We booked it online a couple of days before arriving in Split. We found it with no great difficulty, after popping into the tourist office to ask for directions and ask for a map of the city.

It's about a five minute walk from the bus/train station, located off the main road up a small side street. Location is excellent for both the bus & train stations and also to downtown Split/Diocletian's Palace (no more than a 7/8 minute walk). It's run by a retired couple, the husband we met briefly when checking out, and his wife checked us in, both speak good English.

The room (I think it was number 2) was clean and small, yet ideal for a couple who are passing through for a night or two. En suite bathroom with good, powerful shower, also clean and well maintained. We had a small balcony out a door, where there was a clothes line to dry towels or wet clothes. Nice and bright room as the door and window opened out onto the balcony, although looking at a couple of the other rooms they didn't appear to have as much natural light. Small portable colour television with about 35 channels, perhaps half were English channels.

All in all it was fine for what we needed for a couple of days in Split. A clean, well maintained room with ensuite bathroom and shower, and a great location. Good value for money, but a bit cramped if staying any longer than a couple of nights.
