My room was so clean, linen and sheets were all provided. They even gave me a towel when I asked at reception :D. My bathroom was spotless and the room and bathroom were cleaned daily which was nice
They have free wifi there and theres a cool TV room. The hostel itself looks like it has been newly re-decorated. Its very bright and cheery. The rooms are the cheapest I have experienced in Dublin and the hostel was a short walk from O'Connell St .
I will return :D !!
This is a Trusted Review. Why?
if i have chance to there again, i must choose them. the staff and manager's manner was brillient.
OK the only reason I gave this hostel such a great one star review is that they wont allow me to give half a star. This was a horrible hostel! Sure the outside was well painted, but the inside is a different story. THey overbook the hostel and when I paid for an all female suite they put us all in a room with 2 other men. Also, they room smelled like body odor and the windows were shut. There was piss all over the floor since some people are not toilet trained. The sheets were ruffled, implying that they sheets were not even changed and the floor was filthy and gross. There was not enough toilet paper for 8 people to use! The beds would squeak, as if they had been used for more than just sleeping. I was scared to put my backpack on the floor everything was so gross and moldy.
There is also an issue of privacy. We only received one key, which is fine but the staff would not even knock before entering our suite. One time the receptionist came, took our trash and left, then came back with it for some RANDOM reason. But there is common decency of knocking, imagine if one of us was changing! we are not allowed privacy. We did not have a Problem with one guy but there was an elderly man who harrassed us and threatened to kick is out, since our phone went off in the middle of the night. She innocently did not know that the alarm goes off even when the phone is turned of, she is not used to u.k phones and did not realize, but he got verbally abusive and violent. The staff was antisocial and it would be like pulling teeth to get a straight answer. They were shifty and would always say a different story than another worker so we would have to go and figure out the reason for the problem, such as the overbooked rooms. They staff could have simply said that but one of them stated how they do not have all female suites and lied about the whole thing. Very distrustful.
If you want to sleep in dirty sheets on a squeaky bed next to a senior smelly pedophile, and shower in a bathroom that is moldy and use the bathroom where there is piss on the floor and the toilet doesnt flush, then this is the place for you! My advice is if this is your last choice, book it but leave early in the morning and return late at night so you can make your stay less torturous for yourself and enjoy the beauty of the city. Cheers!
Did not enjoy my experience here at the Dublin Central Hostel. When I first arrived, I checked the linen on my bed and noticed there were hairs all over the sheets. I immediately asked for new linen in which they were reluctant to provide me with because they swore they changed it out already.
The bathroom looked as if it had not been cleaned in months. Shower and toilet were unacceptable.
The bunk beds were excessively squeaky and annoying.
An employee of theirs stayed in our suite even though we clearly booked an all-female room. He was quite bothersome and verbally threatened to kick us out on the street in the middle of the night because our phone rang at night.
The service here was awful and was inattentive. They didn't even greet us or give us any information when we arrived, we had to ask and figure everything out for ourselves. They didn't even offer us lockers and we had to negotiate to even getting one.
I highly do not recommend this hostel.
