At City Public Hostel we offer cheap beds and friendly atmosphere only 10 min. walk from central Copenhagen. City Public Hostel is run by Vesterbro Ungdomsgaard - a well renowned after-school activity center.

We provide access to a large front lawn for relaxation and a backyard where it is possible to barbecue. Guest are also free to use the kitchen between noon and midnight. A good place to meet your fellow travelers is our reception area - here you can also access free Wi-Fi with your own laptop or use our computer for a small fee.

Our reception is open 24h and check-in can be done between noon and 5 am. Check-out is at 10 am. We have no age limit - people of any age are welcome to stay here. As we are an independent hostel we don't require that you are member of a hostel-club of any sort. We only accept cash - no credit cards at all, but there are several ATMs close by.

In 2009 City Public Hostel is open from May 7 to August 27.

We have three categories of beds:

Big Dorm: A bed (no blanket) in our big dormitory with 66 beds.

Medium Dorm: A bed (with blanket) in a dormitory with 24 or 32 beds.

Small Dorm: Our most private beds (with blanket) are in dormitories ranging from 6 to 14 beds. Small dorm beds can be in male/female-only dormitories if requested.

Bedlinen, pillows, and towels can be rented at the reception, but you are more than welcome to bring your own accessories or do without.

The security lockers are free to use if you bring your own padlock and locks can be bought at the reception if needed. Showers are accessible almost all day except for a few hours late in the morning when they are closed for cleaning.

I was a bit afraid, because this was my first time in a hostel and I was alone. But as I entered, my fear disappeared, because the receptionist was very friendly as well as the other travelers in the dorm. I felt at home the whole building since the first time I arrived back from the city, a lot of people stayed at the hall in groups and played card games etc. It was a nice stay.
