Ocean Backpackers is a clean and homely hostel, which offers comfortable and spacious accommodation at great prices

Ocean Backpackers is a stylish well equipped hostel with a chilled atmosphere and no curfews. Situated in a perfect location in the North Devon town of Ilfracombe.

Central to the harbour, bus station, high street, pubs, restaurants and a short drive from many beaches including North Devons top surfing spots of Croyde, Saunton and Woolacombe. If the surf is flat, you could try the other activities available which include; paint balling, horse riding, quad biking, kayaking, adventure swimming, mountain biking and microlighting.

A stones throw from the ferry which goes to Lundy Island which has a abundance of wildlife including seals, rare birds, dolphins and basking sharks.

Situated just off the South West Coastal Path and close to Exmoor National Park makes us a perfect place to explore some of the most stunning walking country in the UK.

Our facilities include a Self Catering Kitchen, Communal lounge, Free Internet/WiFi and En-suite dorms, doubles & Family rooms.

Main routes by car: -

From London. Take the M4 until you reach Bristol. Take the M5 and head South. At junction 27 take the A361 signposted Barnstaple. Stay on the A361 until you reach Barnstaple and follow the signs to Ilfracombe.

From the West: -

Take the A39 up to Barnstaple and then follow signs to Ilfracombe.

From Exeter: -

Take the M5 or the A37 to Barnstaple and then follow the signs.

Once in Ilfracombe: -

At the roundabout at Mullacott Cross (Restaurant/Caravan site "Cooks Island") go straight across and descend the hill into the town. At the first set of traffic lights (DIY shop on corner) turn left, drive for 1km past the Landmark Theater (two domes) and continue onto a one way street. We are the big blue building just past the church on the right. There is parking for 6 cars at the rear of the Hostel.

By Coach: -

National Express Coaches arrive at Ilfracombe's main bus station just opposite Ocean Backpackers Hostel From London Victoria, Heathrow, Birmingham and Taunton

By Train: -

Trains connect from across the country with Exeter. From Exeter hop on the scenic Tarka line railway to Barnstaple and then take a regular local bus to Ilfracombe. (main bus station). When you arrive look out for a gravel driveway next to the church, this is our car park at the rear of the building
