Directions:

To reach Otavalo you have to take a bus or taxi from the airport Quito to the north bus-terminal in Carcelen. Buy your ticket ($2) and board the bus for Otavalo.

The buses will tak you to the terminal in Otavalo or you can get off at the first entrance just past the roundabout and gas station.

From the bus station take a taxi to the hostal.

From the bus stop on the Pana, walk to the traffic lights, turn right into calle Atahualpa and walk 4 blocks until you reach Calle Piedrahita, then turn right and walk one block and a half and the hostal is on your right.

Arrival by car from Quito: take the E-35 panamericana highway to the north, to the province of Imbaburra. Follow the signs to the north, Ibarra, Otavalo.

At the entrance to Otavalo cross the roundabout by the gas station. Continue to the traffic lights and then take the second right into calle Roca. You can't enter Atahualpa as it is a one way street. Drive down Roca 4 blocks until you reach Piedrahita (there is a panaderia on the corner), turn right into Piedrahita and drive 2 and a half blocks (crossing Atahualpa) and the hostal is on the right hand side.e plaza de ponchos in 5 minutes, where there is the famous market and you will be in the middle of the centre.

Otavalo is a good place to relax and feel the culture. Every Saturday there’s is a big handicrafty market centred aroudn the Plaza de Ponchos

Otavalo offers plenty of outdoors things to do like hiking, biking, visiting hot springs, lakes and waterfalls. Or just relaxing and admiring the scenery
