When we (two Ladies) first arrived we were shocked, even we know Cairo quite well. The street looks horrible and the pick up service from the airport didnt work.
But after the first impression was gone it was not so bad. The Hostel is clean, staff is friendly and the location in the middle of real life. (the buildingsite right next to the hostel will be gone soon - I hope for all who stay there after me.
I can recommend it - I stayed alone for a week after my friend left, but I advice all girls to dress properly and ask for companionship when being out in the dark. Nothing happens, but alone in the night as Lady its not too comfortable.
I met a mixture of Pakistani, French and Egyptian people in the hostel. Be careful when you book a room ensuite, the staff likes to change you into a room with shared bathroom! When you insist its ok!
Have fun!
