The Hotel has a rich history. Until 1262, it was a former palace owned by the noble Bulgarini family. Afterwards the building was owned by Ghinibaldo di Saracino and his wife Sapia Salvani, featured in Dante's “Divine comedy” (Canto XIII, Purgatory). The old Ponzi's tower can be seen in the Hotel's facade.
In the Nineteenth century, the Hotel was called “Locanda delle Armi d'Inghilterra” and now it is known as “Cannon d'Oro”.
