Ambleside is a great base for exploring, touring, walking and cycling situated in the center of the Lake District National Park, just 7minutes walk from the North end of Lake Windermere.

Easy access by train/bus, car, foot or bike to all the Lakes, Mountains and Towns in the Lake District

Many fine mountain and valley walks, both easy and hard, start from the hostel doorstep.

Ambleside has a good choice of restaurants, cafés , pubs a beautiful church and 2 cinemas! (7 screens!!) We have good shopping, particularly for art, gifts and outdoor gear a great chocolate & fudge shop, and good book shops.

WE ASK THAT ALL GUESTS KEEP QUIET AFTER 11pm both inside and outside the hostel.

( we don't expect you to have a ball in the hostel after 2300 - we hope you will come back 'cream cracker'd' after walking, cycling or touring the Lakes all day - and then go to sleep ready for the next day)

* Superbly equipped kitchen, with hobs, microwave, oven and freezer, refrigeration and storage. Kitchen is locked from 2230 - 0730 hrs. Breakfast from 0730 -1000. We ask you to be out of the hostel between 1030 and 1430 while we are cleaning. You may use the lounge during this period if the weather is foul or you are unwell.

You may be in a dorm with MORE or LESS beds in it than the bed number shown on the booking engine.

Do NOT book on this site if your party has CHILDREN in it .

*Central heating. Dorm size's from 2 to 12 bunks.

Most dorms have views of the Fells, and are fitted with washbasins and a carpet,( - one even has a chair !!!)

Any groups over 6 people please email hostel to confirm booking first!. Check in from 1630 hrs onwards

(Hey guys, we don't expect you to have a ball in the hostel - we expect you to come back 'cream cracker'd' after touring, walking or cycling the fells all day - and then go to sleep ready for the next day of hard work walking or cycling up and down the fells!!! )
Check in FROM 1630 -2230 hrs.
We ask guests to be out of the hostel each day from 1030 - 1430hrs while we are cleaning. If the weather is foul or you are ill you are welcome to use the lounge during that period.
If you are arriving early, before 12am you will be able to leave your bags in the hostel, give us a ring. If you miss us the Post office & information center has a free bag store in the center of Ambleside.
NO SMOKING ANYWHERE EXCEPT BY THE OUTSIDE FRONT FIRE ASSEMBLY POINT.
You may be asked to leave without refund if you provide false information or cause a disturbance or smoke in any place other than the designated smoking area - the hostel managers opinion is final.
We will do our best to provide hostel accommodation as described above at all times however our liability shall be limited to a refund of booking value if we can not provide this accommodation for any reason beyond our control. No children to be booked on this site please
