THE HOSTEL IS ON THE WAINWRIGHTS COAST TO COAST WALK AND THEREFORE THE PEOPLE STAYING ARE WALKERS, IF YOU ARE LOUD AFTER 10PM YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE, IMMEDIATELY. The hostel is owned and run by two young brothers who enjoy biking, hiking, climbing and all outdoor pursuits. We have our own chickens for eggs in the morning and are constantly improving the building and the business on a daily basis. We are here to help!!

We are positioned in Shap, on Wainwright's and the Westmorland Way, and are easily accessible for the Eastern Fells of the Lake District, The Howgills and The Pennines. New Ing Lodge was a working farm up until the late 1980's but as far as records can be found, it has also been a Coach House/ Guest House since 1820.

It also makes us just over an hour and a half from cities such as Liverpool, Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester, and less than an hour from Newcastle and Preston.

Conditions

Our rooms are located on the 1st and 2nd floor of New New Ing Lodge, we have one single, two doubles, two twins, one triple and one family room available. Each room has local information and organic fairtrade tea and coffee when possible.

We use only local produce for our full English breakfasts which are served between 07.30 and 09:00.

Our 2 mixed dormitory rooms sleep 6 and 8 people on the 2nd floor. As well as a single dorm bed, and a great atmosphere you will also have access to a small kitchen with microwave, kettle, 2 rung hob a sink and all utensils needed for guests staying in the dorm rooms. The kitchen will accommodate up to 4 people at any one time.

Our dorm rooms come with the option of breakfast which can be added at the extra price of £4 for cereal, toast, fresh fruit and tea/coffee or £7 for the above plus a full English breakfast. Packed lunches and evening meals are
