Latest Review for Britannia Hotel

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Lovely building and reasonable sized room. However it was a chilly evening and the radiator was cold. I was told it would come on at 6pm but it did not and I had a rather chilly night. I was also woken at 6.45 by a fire alarm, apparently set off by someone having a shower.

I needed to work on my laptop and ended up kneeling on the floor by a coffee table as there was no desk or table with a chair in the room.

Breakfast was an extra £10.

About Britannia Hotel

Internet Access 24 hour reception

The Britannia Hotel is located in the heart of the city. Manchester's premier architectural building is Grade II listed with outstanding details including a balconied stairway throughout the building.

The Britannia is a famous landmark and meeting place throughout Manchester. The hotel was once the cotton industry's most famous warehouse.

The building dates back to 1858 when it opened as the world's original 'Cash and Carry'.

All of the hotel's 363 bedrooms are en suite, and feature direct dial telephones, trouser press, Hairdryer and Colour TV.

The hotel's WAVE bar and Bar-rogue are amongst the City's most popular meeting places and stay open till late. Both offer food all day long at affordable prices with great music and the very best DJ's. Add to this Jenny's Carvery, the restyled Pizzeria or the traditional comfort of Crompton's French Restaurant and bar and you are truly spoilt for choice.

In a prime location, the hotel is close to the city's financial sector, shopping, theatres and the G-Mex Exhibition centre. The famous Chinatown and The Village, with their myriad of bars and restaurants are only a few minutes walk.

Breakfast was an extra £10.95 so I went over the road to a coffee bar instead. I thought that was a ridiculous price, even on expenses. I also had a drink in the bar which had no decent choice of beers and no efforts to clear tables of empty glasses.

I am in Manchester again next week and I have booked into the Ibis down the road instead.
