Hotel Refugio de Juanar, Ojen, Spain

A visit to the Refugio de Juanar is the perfect occasion to rediscover the joys of outdoor living. The surrounding forest, with it’s well marked paths and fresh air, is a paradise for trekkers and nature lovers.

For centuries, man and nature have coexisted in harmony in the saws of Ronda and Ojén, where the so known in Malaga City Marquis of Larios, built their hunting refuge over which, was built the parador “El Refugio del Juanar”, transformed into a Hotel now a days. The "Refugio del Juanar" has rooms for up to 60 people, distributed in 20 double rooms, 1 single and 4 suites, all of them spacious and with lovely rustic wood decoration: bathroom with hair dryer and bath compliments, direct phone (fixed and wireless), local, national, and satellite TV. , mini-bar, central heating (air conditioning is not necessary), room service... being some of them oriented to the morning sun, and the rest to the evening sun.

Access and Location

From Málaga (Coast):

Take motorway N-340 direction “Algeciras”, when you are in Marbella, take the motorway exit “Ojén” ( A-355 ) and follow by this road direction “Coín”, but don’t take the little road that goes to Ojén town, just follow A-355; 11 kms. from Marbella you will find another crossroad in you left indicated in a road sing as “Refugio de Juanar”, you have to follow by this little mountain road for another 5 kms. To arrive to the hotel.

From Málaga (Inland):

Take the motorway direction “Cartama-Parque Tecnologico”, when you are in Cartama, follow to “Coín” and from this point follow to “Monda”, from here you have to continue by the same road direction “Ojén-Marbella”, in 5 kms. You will find a crossroad in your right indicated “Refugio de Juanar”, you have to follow by this little mountain road for another 5 kms. To arrive to the hotel.

"Refugio del Juanar" is located only half an hour from Marbella is a world of pure air, pine forest, mountains and wild animals.

You can take a walk in the forest surrounding the refugio where you might see some of the wild mountain goats (capras hispanicas) with their small ones. The mirador (lookout point) is a short walk away and is 3000 feet above sea level offering fantastic views of Marbella and the Mediterranean.
