The coaches are original and completed their service with the Rhodesian railway in 1950 and are now fully revamped to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
We are Central to Cape Town's city center and great views of the mountain with swimming pool, restaurant, bar, braai/barbecue area, television lounges, pool tables, a travel centre and internet café.
The accommodation is in 2-and 4- berth compartments where you can opt for a choice of single or single and double bed cabins. Bathroom facilities have been built behind and separate from the coaches. They have been designed to be easily accessible and private. We have one cocktail lounge with two flat screen televisions with DSTV (satellite television) a swimming pool, braai / bbq area and pool tables.
Our pride and joy is our restaurant situated in one of the coaches. Here you can experience our delicious food from our a la carte menu we are open for breakfast, lunch and supper.
We will also gladly assist you in booking sight seeing tours to make your exploration of our beautiful city easier or you are welcome to relax by the pool side and enjoy the Cape Town sun.
Wireless internet access is also available to you so that you can keep in touch with family and friends back home. Should you travel to this part of South Africa, spend a few nights at our venue and we promise to try our best to make it a most memorable stay.

Bedrooms
Rooms are situated in eight historical railway coaches. Each has been given a name that symbolizes the majesty and beauty of South Africa. Coaches on the Table Mountain side of the platform are all named after mountains such as Drakensberg and Outenqua. Coaches on the Atlantic side of the platform are all named after vital rivers in South Africa such as Tugela and the Sabie.

Bathroom facilities
We have provided full communal bathrooms between the coaches. Bathrooms are modern, private and include showers, baths, toilets, basins etc.
We have 2 separate dormitories for ladies and gents. The lady's is situated on the Table Mountain side of the platform and is called Tafelberg. This dorm consists of double bunk beds and sleeps 22 ladies.
The gentleman’s dorm is on Atlantic side of the platform and is called Liesbeek. This dorm consists of double bunk beds and sleeps 28 gents.
Our dormitories are ideal for groups who would like to experience our train accommodation.
From the Airport: Take N2 Cape Town, off ramp at Eastern Boulevard and left on to Oswald Pirow. Turn Right at first traffic light, on to Hertzog Blvd.
Turn Left at first Traffic light into Civic Avenue.
At T junction Turn left into Old Marine Drive. On for Approx 90metres and arrive at African Train Lodge on Right.
