This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Pllanned a surprise weekend getaway for my bf and I saw this place - Number Twenty. Main attraction for me was that it was right in the middle of Jonker Walk. If you need to get something from your room or you want to rest for a few minutes you can just go quickly up and back down again. Very accessible to everything - Stadhuys, St Paul's Hill, Museums, etc. In the evening, we very much enjoyed the night market which is just outside the door! There is a bistro beside the hotel called Bistro 1673 - which has a live band so it can be noisy, but since we didn't mind the noise and we liked the music, it was not a big deal.

Room was very basic - just a double bed and 2 side tables. We were situated beside the rooftop garden which was nice because we had the opportunity to meet other guests. Bathroom was shared but we didn't mind because everything was clean and there was hot water. It's a pretty big guesthouse with lots of rooms, a large living room with a big screen TV but we didn't try it since we were out of the room most of the time. There was a reading area as well with a collection of books.

Price was reasonable considering that it was in the middle of one of their tourist spots. Will definitely stay at Number Twenty if I travel to Malacca again!

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

I enjoyed my stay in this historic house, but would like to point out the following:

1. The light in my room was too weak to read at night. Tourtists need to be able to read - books, maps, guides, etc. The light bulbs were too weak to be able to read anything in the room.

2. The room was very bare: two beds and one night stand. It needed more furniture - if not a wardrobe then a simple bench to put down a suitcase and lay out some belongings. As it was, I had to spread my belongings on the floor.

3. The breakfest menu could be imporved at very little cost but adding another cereal and another kind of bread - perhaps a whole-wheat bread.

4. The only staff membrer I met was Mr. Zul who was courtenous and helpful.

5. I believe by making some very inexpensive improvements and additions, the Guesthouse would be more attractive. The location and the layout of the house are excellent.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth McLean
