This is an EXCELENT hostal, beautifull facilities, very very clean, owners are very welcoming and respectfull. This is your place to be when coming to aso, two minutes from aso station, next to touristic information and a market with fresh vegetables from the place. One of our best stays in japan. Extremetly recomendated!

A wonderful hostel with wonderful new facilities.Very clean and modern. Thoughtful touches such as free hand cream, face toner, hair gel etc.
Location is very close to the station - about 2 minute walk. A very well equipped kitchen.
I would definaely recommend this place. its probably the nicest hostel i have ever stayed in.
Aso Base Backpackers is very recent: everything is in perfect shape,
very clean, and the wood furniture gives a warm touch.
The common room is very cosy, creating a convivial nice atmosphere
favourable for discussion.
Our guest where very kind and always available.

ASO Base backpackers opened in Nov 2009 and so was still relatively new for our visit in April 2010. Its an excellent backpackers with great communial areas, clean showers and kitchen areas, and cheap clothes washing facilities. It was also located right next to the main rail station, bus pick-up and local amenities - perfect!
Our only concern was the lack of air conditioning potentially making folks stay during the hot and humid summer months a little uncomfortable.
However, that aside, was easily the best backpackers we've stayed in during our visit to Japan!!

About Aso Base Backpackers
ASO BASE BACKPACKERS opened in Nov2009. We are family owned brand new backpackers hostel, carefully designed for free and independent travelers.
ASO is located at the centre of Kyushu island and we are located only 2minutes easy walk from JR ASO station which is the gateway station to the active volcanic mountain, Mt.ASO. There are several trekking/ hiking courses in the mountain which makes ASO an ideal destination for nature lovers. We can also be a good base of the fantastic onsen town, Kurokawa.
