I was very surprised how good this hotel was for such a price! Location is amazing just 2 minutes to metro and from metro you can reach everything. All staff were very polite and finally somebody in France was speaking in english

The recently renovated Armstrong Hotel is an excellent choice for backpackers providing quality services at cheap prices.

It is located in a quiet side street near the lively Bastille area, and is surrounded by typically Parisian cafes, restaurants, markets and shops. It has a direct metro to the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Elysées and shopping at the Galeries Lafayette department stores. It is a good choice for visiting all the main tourist sites and is also convenient for Disneyland and the Paris airports with a fast train service.

The Armstrong provides many free services including a 24 hour internet cafe with complimentary hot drinks, wireless internet access and a pool table. The multi-lingual staff are available around the clock and you will find a fully licensed bar at cheap prices, plus a sauna and a private car park.

The 61 smoking and non smoking guest rooms are well appointed with a private bathroom, a hairdryer, a telephone, and an individual safe for your laptop, money or passports. The flat screen TV offers a selection of international satellite channels, and wireless internet access is available at no extra cost. The quality beds are equipped with soft duvets and you will benefit from the comfort of double glazing and an adjustable convector heater.

A copious buffet breakfast is served from 7 to 10am and you will find an appetizing spread to choose from for 8 euros : you can decide whether or not to have it as you go along. For eating out the area offers a wide choice ranging from cheap snacks to gastronomic restaurants compatible with every budget.

Many guests come on the direct recommendation of their friends and the Armstrong has a growing reputation amongst backpackers as the ideal choice for visiting the City of Lights.

I was very surprised how good this hotel was for such a price! Location is amazing just 2 minutes to metro and from metro you can reach everything. All staff were very polite and finally somebody in France was speaking in english :) in the reception room were stands with all information and discounts and in the rooms was channel with all information how you can find a French cuisine, Japanise and so on..The rooms had everything what they promised: free internet, bath,room service. It was very strong heating in the room I think its perfect for such a weather (at the begining in January it was snowing and around minus 4 in day time and minus 9 at night). Thank you very much for everything!!!

Directions

The nearest metro station is "Porte de Montreuil" on line number 9. It's a two minute walk to the Hotel Armstrong: just go up the tree-lined avenue on the left-hand pavement (past the brasserie "Le Davout" and a laundrette) and you will find the hotel in the first road on your left.

Transport to the hotel from the airports:
Taxis from either of the Paris airports should take you approximately 40 minutes and is the quickest way to get to the hotel.

How to reach the hotel by car:
1a/ If you are approaching Paris by motorway from the north, you should branch off the A1 just after the Charles de Gaulle airport and take the A3 motorway to Paris (it is indicated "A3 Paris – Est"). When arriving at the outskirts of Paris take the ring-road going south ("Peripherique - Sud") and take the first exit from the peripherique at "Porte de Montreuil". You will climb up onto a large roundabout and should take the second exit off it where it is indicated "Pte. de Montreuil".

1b/ If you are approaching Paris from the east (A4) or the south (A6) take the "peripherique" ring-road either north ("nord") or east ("est") and exit at "Porte de Montreuil". You will climb up onto a large roundabout and should exit on the opposite side where it is indicated "Pte. de Montreuil".

2/ Turn right at the McDonald's along the '"Boulevard Davout" and then left at the first set of traffic lights. Turn left immediately after where there is another set of lights and you will find the Hotel Armstrong on your left.

How to reach the hotel from the Gare du Nord train station (for arrivals by Eurostar or Thalys):
Take the metro line n° 5 direction "Place d'Italie" and get off at "Republique". Then take the metro line n° 9 direction "Mairie de Montreuil" and get off at "Porte de Montreuil". The hotel is just 2 minutes walk from the "Porte de Montreuil" metro station : follow the left-hand pavement on the main boulevard (boulevard Davout) going past the brasserie "Le Davout" and a laundrette and you will find the Hotel Armstrong in the first road on your left.
