Great hostel! My friend and I roomed during Comic-con and from the get go, everything was great. I was a little disappointed that they didn't take card and only cash, but nothing a simple plan ahead won't fix. The rooms and facilities were clean and well taken care of. We shared a room with four other people, all of whom were really nice and fun to get along with. The room included its own bathroom/shower (NO HOT WATER... takes a while to warm up) which was much better than sharing one with everyone else in the hall. One problem was that there was no AC in the room, but the weather was cool enough to just let the outside breeze cool the room down. John, an employee, was always there in case we needed something and was very helpful whenever we needed anything. Our flight left at 10PM but we had to check out before 11AM. John led us to a free storage room to let us store our things for the mean time, until we needed to come back to pick them up; very convenient! The location is only a few blocks away from the Little Italy Trolley station. From there, you can go anywhere downtown; even to Tijuana (which we did). A lot of great places to eat around the area, although most places are a bit pricey. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will probably go back for next years Comic-con!

There's only one word I can think of to define R.K. Hostel: awesome!
From the beginning of our trip to the very end, everything was great. The staff, Matt and Dora, were of great help all the time. They both were very kind and gentle enough even to receive the many packages I ordered online to have some stuff delivered there.
About the hostel, it's not so big, but the room was much more than we needed. Went to San Diego with 3 friends for a conference. We stayed in a 4-bed dorm, just for us. Perfect! They offer free breakfast everyday, which includes a variety of cereals, milk, etc, and we were pleased with 2 hot dog nights for all the guests, free of charge! It's a good way to make some new friends around there.
The bathrooms are clean (this is a VERY important issue for me) and the shower is hot. The location is great too. The airport is just a few minutes away and the place is surrounded by grocery and convenience stores, not to mention all the restaurants you can find in Little Italy. The trolley station is also close by, so if you don't want to walk to the convention center (where we had to go every day, 15 min walk, highly recommended) you can take a trolley and have a 5 min ride there.
In summary, if you go to San Diego, stay at R.K. hostel! You won't regret it!

Great people, great beds, plenty of space to hang out and you get the breakfast! Highly recomended! The only annoying thing, is that it stays on the approach line of the planes, near the airport, so you'll hear a lot of them everyday, but you are not going to San Diego to stay home, are you?! And you won't have any problems at night. And you won't spend all your money with the cab! The great thing about its location is the neighborhood, Little Italy, with a lot of great restaurants! And it's 15 min from downtown! No better place to stay in San Diego!

RK Hostel is a great place to stay in San Diego. It is close to the main points of the city such as the Little Italy and the Gaslamp Quarter. Also, there are parties in the hostel (such as "The hot dog night") where you can meet people and spend fun times. I strongly recommend it!

Awesome place to stay! I stayed here while on a business trip and could not have been more satisfied! Martin, the manger does a great job taking care of the place and making sure all of the guests are satisfied. The owner is super nice and throws a barbque every Friday night for the guests. If you want a fun, cheap and enjoyable place to stay this is the place.
