Well located, staff were very helpful and friendly throughout. Well priced bar on site, only drawbacks were the hygiene of other guests (which isn't the hostels fault) and the fact that loud music from the bar prevents sleep pre midnight.

About Shenannigans Cairns

If you’re looking for a great place to stay, want a good meal or just a fun night out then you have certainly come to the right place. Being the only Pub-style Backpackers Hostel in Cairns City Central, Shenannigans is one of the best places to meet the locals, is a beautiful 2 min walk to the famous lagoon, a 1 min walk to major shopping centres & most of all the atmosphere is unforgettable.

There are three different bars, a beautiful outdoor undercover beer garden, top quality meal deals for the budget traveler in our cosy restaurant, our famous “Friends With Benefits” VIP guest discount card for use within the hostel, SETANTA & FOX sports action shown on our BIG screens daily 7 days a week, pool tables, a CASINO gaming lounge if you’re feeling lucky…. plus free entertainment & activities 4 nights a week from Wednesday to Sunday, between the hours of 6pm & 11pm. Entertainment on offer ranges from some of the best local & national live acts, themed parties, crazy games, movie nights, Dj’s + much more! Expect a little noise during these times but all in all it’s a bit of fun seeing we are a major venue in the city & it is finished early for the early birds to still get a good night’s sleep. Our warm friendly staff are there to make sure your stay at Shenannigans is both a pleasurable & memorable experience.

Situated right in the heart of Cairns CBD, Shenannigans Hostel is part of the “Iconic & Historic” Shenannigans Pub established 1926. Originally known as the “Commercial Hotel” in the 1920’s the pub has a long local history & heritage spanning 85 years, which is why it has become such a popular watering hole with the locals & travelers alike for almost a century. The building still to this day has some of its original fittings which gives it that character & charm. All this and more within walking distance to all facilities there really is no better place to be.
