Location Hostel in Ligovskiy, 74 is the only hostel that is situated on the territory of the former bread production plant which has been now transformed into a cultural space. The first experimental example of industrial building transformation into a modern art centre, the Loft Project Etagi just ten minutes walk from Nevsky Prospekt. Several years ago the cosy hostel appeared among permanently working galleries, exhibition and lecture halls. It was one of the first in Russia democratic and hospitable home for travelers from every corner of the world. Each room has it own name connected with the photo collages or remarkable bakery past of our loft hostel, for instance Biscuit shop or Bruce Lee. The objects from exhibition are left in the hall from time to time that is why modern art is everywhere here.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Worst hostel I have ever stayed in. Our private room with shared bathroom was the same size as the bed with no place to put luggage, it was dirty, the pillows were brown and covered in dirt. The bathrooms are about a mile away and those who have paid extra for a private room have to walk past the public cafe, down the at stairs and past all the dorms, the bathrooms were dirty, the showers had no hot water but didn't work anyway. The staff were not very helpful and wanted to take our fan off us to give to Russian tourists instead. The cafe is expensive and the staff are extremely rude. I was told there was only table service and waited half and hour for a waitress who then told me food service was over. Ten minutes later she took a food order from some men instead, must have been because I was a woman. Then waited an hour for another drink and gave up on waiting for the bill. This hostel is pretentious but doesn't deserve to be because it is so bad. The location is one hour walk to the sights as well and the only saving grace is the amazing Japanese restaurant over the road with cheap food and cheery staff. Avoid LIgovsky at all costs. Terrible.
