who love to be in a cozy, private house,

who don't mind simplicity and

appreciate the laid back atmosphere of a student community.

Single travelers are especially welcome,

as well as explorers of culture & night-life

and students of German language.

We only accept bookings of little groups of 2 up to 4 persons.

I think we represent a cozy, simple & easy-going, small hostel with personality,

more like a private home of a bigger family, for friendly & open-minded young backpackers, students and experienced globetrotter, explorer & adventurers as well.

Our hostel was best rated, loved and appreciated by Australians, Italians from Bologna , by Canadians, English, Finlandians, USA from New York or California, Scandinavians und Taiwanese,

worst rated by Chinese from Shanghai, Turkish, Russians & people of the former Sowjet Union.

Berlin is a city, where it makes not much sense to spend 1 or 2 days here.

It is a metropolis of the size of London and Paris or New York, but very much affordable, cheaper than any town of western Europe.

So plan to stay longer ! You will not regret it.

The new Hostel with just a few beds is in a typical Berliner building of 1895,

The house has the charm of a typical Berliner building from the Kaiser-Time ( 1895), with 'Stuck' everywhere, and high ceilings of 4 meters.

In the 2. world-war, there were fightings in this house, tracks of this could be seen in the back-yard of the house, on the wall, holes of bulits from the street-fightings in 1945..

The rooms have wooden floors and the 4 meter high walls are painted in in desert orange of Egypt's deserts,

combined with the nile-blue door and windows..

The bath-rooms remind on the

Arabian built Alhambra of Granada (Spain).

some oriental elements,

originating from the owners' favour for North-Africa & Asia,

especially of Egypt, India & Indonesia.

This hostel is designed for single travellers, who like meeting other people, while they are travelling, preferable those who do not regard themselves as a part of the main-stream tourists.

It is a small place, with an atmosphere of a big family's home or of a nice students-share-house, quite relaxed, where you can feel like at a home.

Most of our guests are at the moment from Canada, Sweden, Italy and France, Japan, Denmark Sweden, Japan, England, Austria, and California / USA,

At least we are completely free of noisy groups or school-kids,

so we attract especially individual travellers with character, students, many of German language, anthropology and arts.

Groups bigger than 4 we do not want to see here,

because they might destroy our cozy atmosphere.

We try to offer a friendly, romantic , human, cozy & a bit artistic hostel, with a lot of communication among the travellers .

Since the owners are fans of Arabia, esp. Egypt,

and Asia, esp. Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand ,Malaysia, Singapore, there is some flavour of it present.

Due to Johns special interests, fans of play-station 2 and x-box are especially welcome, as well as adventurers & explorers of Africa or Asia, Arabia or Iran, which are John's special hobbies

Some plants and paintings will provide a cozy atmosphere with a touch of an artists private home, which is open to individual backpackers, students, world-travellers, artists, and explorers of culture, history or night-life.

Happy to see you soon ! John, Asilia & David

or 'Zoologischer Garten',

in the direction of 'Osloer Strasse',
2 stops only, until 'Turmstrasse' (takes 3 minutes).
Best if you are in the middle of the train.

When you arrived at the station 'Turmstrasse',
( which means 'Tower street' )
take the exit in the middle of the station.
( In total there are 3 exits ).
Walk up the stairs.

Upstairs, outside, turn left.
Walk along Turmstrasse, at its left hand side.
First then you cross Berlins smallest street, Thusnelda Allee, which has only 1 house, a church.

Then, you pass on your right hand side the city hall of Tiergarten-District.
Finally you arrive at "Ottostrasse"
There you turn right, pass "Woolworth" and walk along "Oldenburger Strasse'.

At the first corner you turn right, that is our street,
called Waldenser Strasse'.

It is the 2nd house on the right side, number 30
JOHN'S COZY LITTLE BACKPACKER HOSTEL'
at Waldenser Strasse 30.
Just ring the bell.

In our big window you will see our
Hostels name in the window

2) From the new central train-stop 'Hauptbahnhof'
which means 'Central Train Station'
you take the exit 'Europa Platz',
which is in northern direction.

When you come out of the hall, cross the street.
From the other side, take the bus 'TXL',
which goes in direction to Tegel = TXL airport.

After 3 stops and 6 minutes,
you arrive at the Underground station 'Turmstrasse' .
From there, you walk into the direction
where the bus went to,
along 'Turmstrasse', at it's right side.

The first street you cross is
'Wilhelmshavener Strasse'.
Then come 2 banks at your right hand side,
with cash machines / ATMs.
Make sure, you have enough cash to pay us on arrival,
because we only take cash as payments.

Then you pass the 2nd street, 'Bredowstrasse'
and the 3rd street 'Jonasstrasse' ,
Then you pass the city hall of Tiergarten-District
and the 3rd street 'Bremer Strasse'.
At the 4th street, 'Oldenburger Str.' ,
(after Woolworth), you turn right.

At the first crossing is our street, called
'Waldenser Strasse'. There you turn right.

At number 30, which is the 2nd house on your right hand's side, you will see the name in the window:
JOHN'S COZY LITTLE BACKPACKER HOSTEL'
Just ring the bell.

3) From the airport 'Tegel' = TXL,
you just take the 'TXL' bus a few stops,
about 8-10 minutes.
There you have 2 choices (A or B)

A: Get off the bus at S-Bahn Beusselstr. ,
this way is longer to walk, but a nice quiet walk,

B: Get off the next station,
'Beusselstr. / Turmstrasse'.
which is shorter but more noisy and distracting.

A: Get off the bus at S-Bahn Beusselstr. ,
Walk in the same direction.
At the first street, turn left into Siemensstrasse.
At Waldstrasse turn right.
Then turn left at Wiclefstr.. Cross Emdener Str.
At Oldenburger Str. you turn right.
At Waldenser you turn left again.
Johns Hostel is then on the right side of the street,
at Nr. 30, the 2nd house, right after the Cafe-Bar Cox.

B: Get off the bus at 'Beusselstr. / Turmstrasse'.
and walk in the same direction, where the bus was driving to. At Waldstrasse you turn left.
At the next corner comes "Waldenser Str.,
which is our street. Here you turn right, walk on your right hand's side. After crossing 2 streets, Emdener Str. and Oldenburger Str.,
our house is at Waldenser Strasse 30.
just after the Cafebar Cox.
. There you see the name in the window:
JOHN'S COZY LITTLE BACKPACKER HOSTEL'
Ring the bell at the door next to the big window.

4)
From the airport 'Schoenefeld' = SXF,
you can take first the bus 171 for 1 stop, or you walk about 7 minutes to the train station 'Schoenefeld'.
From there, you can take the 'Airport-Express' train,
from platform number 3.
It leaves every 30 minutes from there and takes 20 minutes until railway station 'Zoo' = 'Zoologischer Garten'
(4-5 stops) The S-Bahn takes 40 minutes and has 30 stops.

From Zoo-station, follow the directions from above ( see 1.)

5)
From the Central Bus station 'ZOB' take the left exit, ( behind the busses ), and pass "Cosy (Car) Wash"
There, you turn left and walk for about 2 minutes along that street, until the underground-station "Kaiserdamm" (U1) .
Take the U1 a few stops into the direction to "Warschauer Strasse",
until "Zoologischer Garten",
which is the western railway station 'Zoo'

From there, you follow the directions from above. See Nr. 1)

6) By car. If you come from the south, on the motorway = Autobahn, go first into the direction / follow the signs to "Zentrum" "Center".
