My husband is Mexican, from Culican, and so he knew about this little Jewel of a hotel which is a piece of paradise if there ever was one. First the hotel's price can not be beat. It's at least half the price of any place you would stay in Canada or the U.S.A.

My husband is Mexican, from Culican, and so he knew about this little Jewel of a hotel which is a piece of paradise if there ever was one. First the hotel's price can not be beat. It's at least half the price of any place you would stay in Canada or the U.S.A. and even cheaper than most places in Mazatlan. Second the location is a prime one, right across from the beach and prime nightlife spots, like Valentino's, the beautiful castle like structure that lights up the night on the beach. Vista Mar hotel itself is beautifully sparking white reminiscent of a Mediterranean Villa and also sports it's own magnificent pool and rock waterfall where you can soak up the Mexican sun on one of the loungers or take a bite out of the heat with a bathe in the cool clear water. Up on the rooftop, easily accessible by a small poolside staircase are magnificent ocean views that can enjoyed while grilling up your own feast on the rooftop BBQ's and dining area. A local market is just round the corner and there is a small confectionery that serves up fresh fruit juice mixes on site. There are kitchenette rooms available as well to keep costs down, but the nearby restaurants certainly won't strain the wallet too much, food is cheap and plentiful. I highly recommend Panama, it's dessert cart, (although Satan's chariot), is magnificent a not to be missed- we fed five for under $50, but we were all non-drinkers, so that impacted price considerably. If shopping is your thing the whole street is swarming with vendors and shops pedaling every imaginable good, and as for seeing more of the city I would suggest renting a Pulmonia, fairly inexpensive taxi cart that will take you an a scenic tour wherever you would like to go. The people are great, the staff at Vista Mar very pleasant and accommodating. If you are looking for a 5 star pampering stay, Vista Mar is far too relaxed and won't fit the bill, but if what you are looking for is an inexpensive, comfortable, clean place to sleep and rest between adventures, I firmly believe that there is no place better to have a relaxing and perfectly exquisite stay in Mazatlan than Vista Mar.
