This hostel is a large house that frequently gets invaded by teens on school trips. It has a reputation for being a party hostel. There is a bar downstairs that is always busy. The hostel is so big that Sandeman's New Berlin Free Walking Tour and New Berlin Pub Crawl make the Meininger's at Hallesches Ufer a pick-up point. As a result the bar in the hostel automatically gets included into the pub crawl; plus you got people coming home drunk at all hours of the morning.

Cleanliness is of the highest priority for us. All guest rooms and common areas are cleaned daily.
The hostel and its rooms are equipped with a highly modern keycard system. The entire hostel is equipped with a modern fire alarm system with smoke detectors and fire extinguishers on every floor, as well as a video monitoring system in the entrance area and bar.
Furthermore, our reception is manned 24 hours a day so that you will always find someone to speak to about questions and concerns.

This hostel is a large house that frequently gets invaded by teens on school trips. It has a reputation for being a party hostel. There is a bar downstairs that is always busy. The hostel is so big that Sandeman's New Berlin Free Walking Tour and New Berlin Pub Crawl make the Meininger's at Hallesches Ufer a pick-up point. As a result the bar in the hostel automatically gets included into the pub crawl; plus you got people coming home drunk at all hours of the morning. Security and hostel staff try to enforce the rules on silence, but it is almost impossible to maintain during the summer months when the hostel is often full. To top it off there is a noisy street and the Underground trains running in front of the hostel, so bring some earplugs if you want to sleep.
Facilities: They are as good as they say they are. All rooms are spotless and almost everything is new, from toilets and showers down to furniture. All rooms have cable TV (German only).
I am not the partying type, so it is the facilities and the competent and helpful staff that make me come back everytime. It is one of my favourite places to stay in Berlin.
What could be improved is the availability of lockers, not all rooms had them when I last stayed there.
The location is good too. Not too far away from the city centre and you can easily catch the Underground to Wittenbergplatz (KaDeWe) and the bus or underground to Potsdamer Platz or Hauptbahnhof. Only tiny draw back is the lack of direct access to the S-Bahn system and that you need to change trains to get to Friedrichstrasse.
Accessibility: The hostel has an elevator to get you up to the 7th floor, so it is a good choice if you are walking impared. For wheelchairs it is not a good choice because there are stairs at the entrance and some of the doors are narrow. Wheelchair users are better off at the Meininger Hotel and Hostel at Tempelhofer Ufer right across the street. If you stay at Tempelhofer Ufer you can use the facilites of the hostel at Hallesches Ufer too.

BOOKING FPR GROUPS OF 12 OR MORE
1. Bookings for groups of 12 or more: cancellations made by the guest respectively on the part of the intermediary person or organisation are free of charge up to 60 days before expected arrival. For cancellations made within 60 days prior to arrival, the following cancellation fees apply; these fees also apply for bookings made within 60 days of expected arrival:
a) For cancellations made 59 to 30 days before expected arrival, 30 per cent of the agreed-upon total price will be due.
b) For cancellations made 29 to 10 days before expected arrival, 50 per cent of the agreed-upon total price will be due.
c) For cancellations made 9 to 1 day(s) before expected arrival, 90 per cent of the agreed-upon total price will be due.
d) Guests who either cancel on the day of their expected arrival or simply do not show up will be charged the agreed-upon
total price in full.
Above cancellation conditions also apply if the number of persons is reduced at least 10 per cent within this period of time. A
reduction of less than 10 per cent is free of charge until 1 day prior to arrival.
2. Booked meals can be cancelled free of charge until 8 days prior to arrival. Thereafter, a cancellation fee of 100 per cent of the
agreed-upon total price applies.

From Main Station
- Take bus M41 toward Sonnenallee/Baumschulenstrasse (16 minute ride).
- Get off at the stop Willy-Brandt-Haus and walk in the same direction as the bus was going.
- Turn right at the next intersection.
- Follow the street for 50m and you will see the entrance of our house.
From the Airports
From Tegel Airport (TXL)
- Take bus X9 or 109 (toward Zoologischer Garten) and get off at the stop Jakob-Kaiser-Platz.
- Take the U-Bahn line U7 (toward Rudow) and get off at the stop Möckernbrücke. (17 minute journey)
- Leave the U-Bahn station via Hallesches Ufer/Tempelhofer Ufer exit, take a right and cross the street Am Halleschen Ufer.
- Follow the street, walking in the opposite direction as traffic to the next intersection and cross Grossbeerenstrasse.
- After ca. 100m you will see the entrance of our house.
From Schönefeld Airport (SXF)
- Take bus X7 or 171 toward Hermannplatz and get off at the stop Rudow.
- Take U-Bahn line U7 toward Rathaus Spandau and get off at the stop Möckernbrücke. (24 minute journey)
- Leave the U-Bahn station via Hallesches Ufer/Tempelhofer Ufer exit, take a left and cross the street Am Halleschen Ufer.
- Follow the street, walking in the opposite direction as traffic to the next intersection and cross Grossbeerenstrasse.
