Do not stay here!!! The photos and description are incredibly misleading.
I reserved a single room with an ensuite bath. The charge was ~$40 - ~$45 a night. When I arrived we took the elevator to the 10th floor, the stairs to the 11th and then went outside, on the roof, in the rain, to get to my room. The room was a renovated attic garret filled with extra furniture. The only window was covered up. I went into the bathroom and noticed that the shower head was not attached to the shower hose. At first I thought it just disconnected but it did not attach at all.
I went down and asked to see another room. They took me to another building where the rooms were filthy, there was about 3" between the bottom of the doors and the floors and none of the rooms had an ensuite bath.
At that point, I decided that I just wanted my money back. It was a little odd, I explained my issues with the rooms and I felt as though I was getting knowing smiles in return. Obviously there is a language barrier, but I believe the guy I was dealing with, said that the garret room actually belonged to the father of the owner. So, I was a little confused as to why it was even being offered to me. Though I lost my deposit, there was no problem getting my money back.
I ended up staying in a very clean, modern 3 star hotel that was conveniently located in the same building as the garret room. The cost: ~$50 a night!
I am an experienced traveler who has traveled throughout Asia and Europe. I realize what you get when you stay at a hostel but, based on their descriptions and the other reviews, I believed that I was going to be staying at a nice upgrade from the usual backpacker joint. Now, they may have other, more modern rooms that were all booked because of the Chinese New Year but, if that is the case, then there needs to be some sort of reference to that on their website.
