The hotel itself is not bad. The rooms are clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, and a very good value for the money. Though I was expecting a shared bathroom, only the toilet is shared. Each room has a shower and basin ensuite. Overall, pretty decent.

The reason, however, this hotel was pretty horrible was the location. The area around Hauptbahnhof station is dull and boring. The area surrounding the hotel itself is fortified with grungy, dirty little bars and lots and lots of hookers. The noise factor is HORRIBLE. You will hear the click clack click clack of high heels of prostitutes walking down the street, all sorts of loud and obnoxious drunk voices, and car traffic 24 HOURS A DAY. All things considered, if you bring a good set of earplugs it might not be too bad. It is convenient to all the public transport links. They serve a free breakfast and coffee, which was nothing special (bread rolls, jam, nutella) but it was free.

Overall, I give the place 5 out of 10.

It was very conveniently located for the Haubtbahnhof and bus station. Plenty of eateries around. Good value for money and pleasant staff.

The only drawbacks were not having a lift in the building so it wasn't so easy for the less-abled of visitors as there are upto 2 flights of stairs. Also, it was very noisy in the street, as you would expect for a city centre hotel - lots of traffic and drunk people.

We had booked a room with shower but on arrival we were told that this room was no longer available because of a plumbing problem. We took a slightly cheaper room with shared shower and toilet, and this was fine even though the hotel was quite full. The room was quite warm and we could not keep the window open at night because there was too much street noise. Overall though, this was a good location and pleasant stay.

Our host was not friendly and the private toilet was shared in the hallway. And the douche cabin was just dropped down somewhere in the room. Noisy at night despite the double window. But...it is nearby the main train station and the neighbourhood 5 minutes walk to the north is nice and unknown by most. But in general we say no to next time.
