Discover the city of Bach and Goethe, and the starting point for the peaceful political upheavals of autumn 1989. Leipzig is one of the most vibrant cities in Germany with a fascinating night scene.

There are not many German cities where you can do windsurfing, sailing, diving, kite-surfing and other water sports, but all these sports are available in Leipzig, at two large lakes, 'Lake Kulkwitz' and 'Lake Cospuden', both about 20 minutes away by car or public transport.

Just ask us when you check in.

Directions

You will arrive at Leipzig's modern main train station - the largest main line station in Europe. Directly in front of the train station is the central tram station. Take tram no. 1 (direction Lausen) or no. 14 (direction Plagwitz). Get a 'Kurzstrecke' (short journey) tram ticket, which costs €1.40, from the ticket machines at the tram station. Get off at the second tram stop (Gottschedstraße). The Sleepy Lion Hostel is directly across the road.

An alternative to the tram ride is a 10 minutes walk. Leave the train station and follow the Tröndlinring to the right, then the Goerdelerring until you pass the Hauptfeuerwache (main fire station). Turn into the Käthe-Kollwitz-Str. and you'll see us in the second building on the left side.
