Budget Accommodation Asia Thailand Koh Phangan Apartments Zen Bungalows
The bungalow we stayed in was in an idyllic location on the beach with a hammock, great view of the sea, palm trees etc. We wanted a quiet getaway and it certainly was that! Almost too quiet as disappointingly the bar/restaurant at Zen was not open at all when we stayed (5days beginning Aug).

This is a Trusted Review. Why?
The bungalow we stayed in was in an idyllic location on the beach with a hammock, great view of the sea, palm trees etc. We wanted a quiet getaway and it certainly was that! Almost too quiet as disappointingly the bar/restaurant at Zen was not open at all when we stayed (5days beginning Aug). This was not mentioned prior to booking. This meant for all food, drink etc we had to go to the main street of Shrithanu (10min walk) where there were many good restaurants doing Thai and western food.
We paid 780 baht per night to stay at Zen and can't help feeling we paid over the odds for the very basic service and amenities provided. The actual bed springs on the mattress had collapsed on one side! There were an infestation of ants but I don't know whether that is just standard when staying in a wooden hut! Cold shower only but that was fine because of the heat. After 3 days we had to ask for fresh bedding to be put on. We did not get towels. This place could be a lot better were they to get a new bed, give it a lick of paint, put a little fridge in there, provide better services. Fine if you like it basic but I would definitely try and get a better rate than we paid.
