Do not ever consider staying in an apartment run by DiscoverKiev. I am an experienced traveller and I have never encountered such a disorganized mess of a business in my life. Once you enter one of their apartments you are basically on your own to fix any problem while they promise service. The men who run this business are corrupt and dishonest, appear to be friendly, speak rudly to women on the phone, operate a collection of apartments through an office that is impossible to find, have facilities in which absolutely no electrical devices work, have water dripping over electric lines in the bathroom, and constantly try to wring every cent from you while they smile and promise to fix all the problems. Rules change at the drop of a hat. They are unfortnately the stereotypical Ukrainian corrupt businessmen one hears about all the time. Nothing is true, all they want is your money, and one fears what might be their next dirty decision. They make a nice woman Katya do their dirty correspondence for them. They are strong arm types with no real interest in honesty. Maybe you think I am a fussy American--not true. I have relatives in Ukraine and know the country well and like it--but not these guys.If you think this is not true write to Professor Peter White at Plwhite@unm.edu. DiscoverKiev gives Ukraine a bad name-you will regret having anything to do with DiscoverKiev. You will discover the dark side.
