Mud-brick houses: Built from hand-made mud-brick, tile and wood these single-storey houses have two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, living room and a wide verandah. In the summer both the stone and mud-brick houses remain cool, in the winter they are heated with wood-burning cooking stoves.
Wooden houses: These have been built close to the Kargi River, where it forms one of Pastoral Valley’s boundaries, and are in the midst of shade-giving trees. There are one- and two-bedroomed wooden houses with each house also having a bathroom and a small kitchen in one corner of the verandah.
All organic waste from the houses, together with grey and black water, is recycled. There is no smoking allowed in any of the Pastoral Valley houses…
