Enjoy an antique atmosphere in the heart of culture and art in downtown Seoul. Be our guest and make yourself at home. Make your travels in Korea more special than ever!

126 Mansion is a Guesthouse which is located in Palpan-dong(aka Samchung-dong), the centre of culture and art, in downtown Seoul.

Palpan-dong is just around the corner from Gyungbokgung, the first royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty. This place has been at the very centre of the Capital city of Korea since the old days of the royal dynasty; in this area, eight Panseos(Ministers of the Joseon Dynasty) used to reside here hence where Palpan-dong(an eight-Panseos village) got its name.

Within a 3-minute walk from our Guesthouse, you can see a variety of galleries, shops and cafes in a busy street. Han-ok Maeul (Koreas traditional house village) is within a 10-minute walk. It is about 5 to 30 minute walk to Seouls most famous historic sites such as Gyungbokgung, Changdukgung, and Deoksugung. Also you can get to Myung-dong, Dongdaemun and Namdaemun markets, and Gwanghwamun square.

Equally, we are proud of the picturesque surroundings of the 126 Mansion. Just beside our Guesthouse, there is a beautiful promenade of the stone wall of Gyungbokgung leading to Cheongwa-dae (the Blue House).

126 Mansion is a high-class Guesthouse providing comfortable, spacious living. Our guest house is situated with a nice view so that you can see Gyungbokgung and Cheongwadae. Guests can also expect excellent service in our relaxing dining room and experience a fine example of modern day living in a traditional space. We will welcome you with exclusive hospitality.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

I had a fantastic stay at BnB 126 Mansion. Hyunchung, her sisters, and their mother made me feel at home immediately. I loved the Korean breakfast. It was very filling and kept me going until dinner time.
BnB 126 Maison is ideally located near many of the historical and cultural sights as well as many art galleries, restaurants, and boutiques. It is a bit of a walk from the Anguk metro station but it's a beautiful area and very safe. I will definitely stay there again when I am in Seoul.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

We had a wonderful time staying at this B&B. It's run by a mother and her three daughters, and they are all lovely and helpful - the mother does not speak English, and we do not speak any Korean, so our interactions with her were limited to smiles, but all three daughters went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. The location is just fantastic. It is in an area where buildings are limited to being low-rise - no big city scape buildings, a person-centred environment,. There are lots of galleries, private and public, within easy walking distance of the B&B and the National Museum of Korea is also within easy walking distance. So, apparently, is the President's Palace, and for this reason there is a big Police presence around the area. Also within a few minutes' walk are multiple cafes, restaurants and bars, some serving Korean food, some Western food with an emphasis on Italian and French. We ate in 7 of these restaurants during our stay and they were all good. There are also lots of shops, including street food shops, clothes, jewellery, crafts etc. If you come from a Western culture as we do (we are Australian) you do have to bear in mind that the facilities here will not be like a big hotel. Each room has an ensuite bathroom (which is tiny, not the grand hotel style). The room itself is smallish by hotel standards, but not tiny. The floor is heated, which is apparently a Korean thing, and of the course the beds are mattresses on the floor, so you do need a minimal level of agility. There are also shoe rules, Korean style: no outdoor shoes can be worn inside the B&B; soft shoes are provided for indoors; wet area shoes are provided for the bathroom; hard-soled slip on shoes are provided for the trip from the first floor bedrooms to the ground floor cafe where breakfast is served. It means lots of shoe-changing but you quickly get used to that. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough, especially for Westerners who might want to get a taste of the Korean culture while retaining some comforts like an en suite bathroom. I have to say, also, that people in the street in Seoul, or at least in this area, were also incredibly helpful. We just had to hesitate and someone would offer us help.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Hyun Jeung and her mother and sisters made the stay a memorable one. They are warm and welcoming people. They even invite guests to be part of family festivities such as Chuseok, the Korean Thanksgiving. And the breakfasts are fabulous--no skimpy toast, jam, and coffee. The location is very close to sights, shops, galleries, and cafes, but not heavily trafficked by tourists.
