By Train from Delhi to Pathankot

If you're coming by train, a convenient place to buy your ticket is the International Tourist Bureau in New Delhi Railway Station. You can buy your ticket online if you have the option to print out the ticket.
You can also buy a ticket at the Railway Booking Counter at Delhi DEL Airport if you arrive during business hours.

The journey will take from 10 to 13 hours by day or overnight train. Once you arrive in Pathankot, you can go by taxi to Dharamsala, which will take about 3 hours, or by bus which will take about 4 hours. Once you reach lower Dharamsala by bus, you can take another bus or taxi up to Naddi.

By Bus from Delhi to Mcleod Ganj and Dharamsala

There are a number of buses departing Delhi for Dharamsala each day. Most stop in lower Dharamsala and you will need to catch another bus or taxi up to Mcleodganj and Naddi.

Buses departing from the Tibetan area of Majnukatilla in the early evening, arrive in Mcleodganj early in the morning. Getting to Dharamsala by bus trip usually takes about 12 hours, including several stops during the night.

Tickets for Dehli to Dharamsala buses can be purchased through any travel agent.

For buses direct to Mcleodganj, tickets can be purchased from travel agents in Majnukatilla. Tickets cost 550 INR (about $14).

The buses can be quite cramped, with little leg room, and even painful when the person in front of you tips their seat back. If you're able to make your reservations in advance, request seats 1, 2, 3, or 4 for the most comfortable ride.

And although the buses may be cramped, the ride can be very peaceful, as Tibetan monks frequently take the bus from Majnukatilla to Dharamsala.
