Baby Bush Lodge

Baby bush lodge was cozy and clean and amazing value for money. The staff were very friendly and polite and we really enjoyed our time there. It is about an hour travel by taxi from Stone Town for 20,000TSH. The beaches were not too crowded and there were not too many tourists about.

What an amazing place to stay! It is located in Kiwengwa, a very small town about an hour's drive in a taxi from Stone Town. If you're looking for a place to stay away from all the tourists just to relax and have some down, chill-out-time this is the perfect place.

The staff are so friendly and relaxed and the overall service is excellent.

There aren't usually many people on the beach, tourists and locals included, so you won't feel like a major tourist being surrounded by so many white people, and the workers at the very few stalls that are located along the beach are not ones to harass you.

The hotel has such a chilled out vibe, with huge couches for you to lounge around on all day listening to the reggae music they play, and a few hammocks here and there. I stayed in a dorm; a large room for just two bunk beds, one single and one double. Very comfortable.

Just be aware that a taxi from Stone Town will cost around 40,000-50,000 shillings (~AUD $25-$30), but you can always catch a dala dala for 2,000 or 3,000 (~ AUD $2/3).

It is still quite a new hotel and they have many plans for it, including building a spa and possible party deck/chill out deck on the third story. It is a gorgeous place partly on wooden stilts and with a hatch roof; a real local feel.

Definitely recommend it, it's not hard to fall in love with it after 5 minutes upon arrival! It is a fantastic deal for what you are paying!

Finding the place was a challenge....no road signs. Driving trough some local housing - very poor - we were worried for the time being.... but once you find the little Jewell it grows on you. I will certainly return with my family.
Just make sure the room you settle in is for the payment you made. The language barrier tend to cause some tension about which room for what price!!!! or perhaps it is a business opportunity to offer you an upgrade without telling you the upgrade price....even if you pay for 2 nights they tend not to tell you the amount is only enough for 1.....
Overall it is a lovely stay for people who are on a budget. We were exploring the whole day and only slept there. Supper was the best on the whole island.....compliments to the chef!!!
The sea retreat for about 1mile during low tide. Wonderful exploring.... we found sea-stars as big as your head!!! During high tide a very nice swimming place.
No swimming pool, but we walked to the neighboring "fancy" places, bought lunch and use their facilities.
For the lover budget traveler....this is a wonderful place to stay. Close to all the beach action. The most wonderful view- and we stayed all over Zanzibar.

Baby Bush was lovely, people friendly, food good, view spectacular!
