Bit of a strange place to stay, but a very nice place to stay also. Be prepared to make friends with the staff! This is definitely not the place to be if you want some 'alone time'. Kitchen is small, clean, understocked with plates and pans etc, but we spoke to the staff and they went out and bought more stuff.
The hostel is really well situated, not on La Ramblas which would be too noisy, but less than 10 minutes walk away. The only problem with this place is the layout of the hostel. The common room was right outside our bedroom, this is also the reception and where the front door is. So, everytime someone drunk gets home at 5 in the morning, we got woken up. Everytime people played music until 5 in the morning, we got woken up (even though you get told not to make noise after 12 midnight).
This was a really cool place, pretty clean, REALLY friendly staff, just had our stay spoilt sometimes by other inconsiderate guests. If we wanted to get up early and go out in the morning, tough, because other people wanted to stay up til 5am playing music. Of course this isn't the hostels fault, but they could perhaps try out enforcing their own rules of being quiet after midnight?
Had booked beds at the AWA Downtown Barcelona but got put in this hostel. We had booked beds in a 6 bed room but got put in a 17 bed room. This made the hostel really crowded since there was twice as many people there as there should be. There was always a long line for the bathroom because of the extra people. The location was much further then where we were originally supposed to be. Very far from the beach. The staff that was working was nice and I know it was not their fault what happened. It is the people higher up that own the hostels that are at fault. Would never stay at a AWA hostel again.
