The owners are friendly and nice. They directed me to a very nice beach nearby with lots of fish for snorkelers.
The pension is a ways from the city, but there are buses and sometimes people stopped and offered rides even when I was not hitchhiking. The yard at Te Miti is beautiful with coconut trees, fruit trees, breadfruit trees, and flowers. Because they have both long term and short term guests, there is a nice mix of fellow travelers. I had great experiences there, I think made possible by the friendly tone by which the owners operate. During one transfer ride from the airport, Frederick went out of his way to take us up to a vista viewpoint.
French visitors were predominate during my stay, but the owner's English is good, and he helped pull me into the conversations around the breakfast table. Kitchen facilities were communal and facilitated interaction with fellow travelers. One longer term guest, a Marquais Islander, even picked a breadfruit from the tree in the yard and showed several of us tourists how to cook it. It was a great intro to traveling in Tahiti.
Internet access costs money, just like elsewhere in French Polynesia and there was not a computer available with English keyboard or with printing capabilities when I needed my boarding pass printed out for the ride home, but those items are easily available in the Papeete city center, you just need to plan ahead.

Very friendly place and great value for budget stay in Tahiti. Family owned and operated, Fred and Christelle were always more than happy to help. Breakfasts were ok (due to bakers being on strike during our stay we missed fresh baguettes but oh well, one must appreciate French traditions) and the fully equipped kitchen is a big help for self catering on a budget. Our double room was clean with fan and mosquito net over the bed and we did not mind the company of a lazy gecko We loved the outdoor shower!!! Supermarket 10mins, snorkelling beach with many fishes and a moray eel 5mins, and the cheapest car rental on the island is about 20mins walk from the pension.
