This was the first hostel I stayed in, in Australia. I'm glad b/c I didn't have any others to compare it to and realize the difference. It wasn't really good, nor was it really bad. The rooms were standard and clean. The common areas like the kitchen and bathrooms were pretty messy and in need of a remodel. As for the service, Val (the manager?) was pretty knowledgeable on the city and transportation.

Alfred Park Accommodation is a beautifully restored heritage building built in 1848 for a whaling boat captain and his 9 children! But don't be fooled by the fascade! The new block at the rear is more like motel style accommodation. So whether you're looking for dormitory beds at a budget or private rooms with ensuite, we've got what you want. We are located across Prince Alfred Park from Central Railway Station, which has its own swimming pool and tennis courts. Chinatown, Darling Harbour, Centrepoint Tower and Sydney's main shopping centre are just a brisk walk away. We are also within walking distance of the Sydney Football Stadium, Cricket Ground, Centennial Park and the new Fox Studios. Trains, buses and taxi fares to these places are also very reasonable.

Arrival and Check-out Times
The Hotel Office is open for check-in from 7:00a.m - 11p.m. After hours check in can be arranged.
Checkout time is 10am on the day of departure (late check-out can also be arranged).
General Cancellations: Must be made with more than 48 hours notice or 1 day accommodation will be charged. Please ensure you receive confirmation from us via email or fax of your cancellation.

The rooms were standard and clean. The common areas like the kitchen and bathrooms were pretty messy and in need of a remodel. As for the service, Val (the manager?) was pretty knowledgeable on the city and transportation. The problem was that he always seemed too busy help you with any of your questions or issues. It also felt pretty far from downtown Sydney and I ended up doing a lot of walking. The one nice thing is that they did offer free pickup from the airport with a 3 night stay.

Arrival and Check-out Times
The Hotel Office is open for check-in from 7:00a.m - 11p.m but 24 hour service is available for late (or early) arrivals. Simply call for 24 hour service.
Checkout time is 10am on the day of departure. We have a luggage room if you need to store your luggage fter check out (FREE SERVICE).
For Christmas and New Years Bookings (Arriving 18th Dec to 3nd Jan) payment may be charged in full after we receive your booking. Please note that cancellations or partial cancellations will only be refunded 50% of balance charged by us. More than 1 week notice required for cancellations or there will be no refund.

NOTE: XMAS and New Year bookings (18th Dec to 3rd Jan inclusive). We may require full payment in advance prior to your arrival. Also, we will only refund 50% of balance outstanding of any subsequent cancellation during the period 18th Dec to 3nd Jan.
