We are known for our great social atmosphere and warm welcoming staff.
Located on stylish Macleay Street, we are surrounded by the alluring cafes, bars and restaurants that Potts Point is known for. Kings Cross' vibrant nightlife is close by, yet far enough away to have a good night's sleep. From here you can walk to the City Center, Botanic Gardens, the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and all of Sydney's attractions.
Blue Parrot is family owned and run by sisters Effie & Sasha. Being a small hostel we offer personal service and a perfect environment for solo travellers to easily meet other travellers. Ideal for females since it is safe, secure and clean. Our guests frequently tell us they don't want to leave because of our 'friendly and homely atmosphere, almost like you're staying at a friend's house'.
We offer free Internet and WiFi, which is a big bonus since most hostels charge for it. Also free use of Playstation 3 and a Wii Game Station.
There's free use of personal security lockers in each room, plus an awesome outdoor courtyard with hammocks and BBQ, great for socialising. Facilities include leather-lounge room with big-screen TV, computers and laundry room.

The hostel staff were awesome and so accommodating for everyone staying at the hostel, and even some of the old residents who returned for quiz night.
It was great that the staff ensured we had something to do each night and took us out in Kings Cross for a great $12 steak at a local pub The Sugarmill. We stuck around after dinner as the meal was was followed by pub quiz night which we almost won, so very close.
The crew then asked who wanted to return to the hostel and who wanted to kick on and experience partying in Kings Cross and took us for several rounds of karaoke at O'Malley's Hotel. This included many terrible songs, some rock anthems and one or two rounds of shots.
It's always a shame when you leave something in your room and when I got home I discovered this and emailed the hostel asap and Effie was kind enough to find the items I left in the locker in my room. They were also able to store them for a week until my friend could collect them.
I can't say enough nice things about the location and the staff, they certainly deserve your consideration if you are thinking of staying in the Cross.
