We stayed at the lodge for the first night of our visit to Ireland, arriving directly from the airport. Our room was not big, but included whatever we needed, including en suite facilities, and was clean and quite. The location is excellent, for the Boyne valley area in general, and especially for visiting the superb sites of Knowth and NewGrange: the tours to these places begin from a visitors' center that is 5 minutes by foot from the Lodge. Also, through the front desk of the Lodge, you can sign up early in the morning for the early morning tours from the visitors' center, thus assuring you of not waiting in line there.
The employees of the lodge are to be specially commended for their warm, friendly and very helpful attitude. We also enjoyed the breakfast there. There are also well appointed public areas such as a den with fireplace, a large enclosed porch area, a television room etc.
The main facility that needs upgrading is the kitchen reserved for those travelers who want to prepare their own food (as we did for supper). It is too small to accommodate more than two persons at a time, some of the 'burners' on the electric range are out of order, etc.
Aside from the public kitchen, everything was excellent, and we would certainly recommend this to anyone planning to visit the area.

from Dublin airport an easy 30 minute drive and great to have a cafe on site. Beautiful view of hills as we ate on the decking outside. Rooms had ordinary shower - slow and lack of hot water. Noisy guests as it is also a hostel. The best breakfast-smorgasboard and fresh fruit. Highly recommend it.
