About Clare's Rock Hostel

Clare's Rock Hostel is located in the unspoilt village of Carron in the heart of the Burren
at one of the highest points in the Burren Mountains. It overlooks the largest Turlough (disappearing lake) in Western Europe.
This purpose built hostel provides private rooms for families and couples. We offer full self-catering kitchen facilities. Group meals can be arranged in the pub/restaurant adjacent to hostel.
Hostel has a games area which include pool, air hockey and table soccer. Outside we have a home made version of mini golf, and in 2009 we will be introducing new games including pentanque and horse shoe throwing.
All games are free of charge to guests.
Lectures on the Burren can be arranged for groups and local tourist information is available for walking routes
Burren farming is very unique. Being a special area of conservation it must be farmed in an environmetally friendly way.
On our farm we are happy to show visitors around and answer are questions they might have.

**Please note that the 4-bed family rooms have 1 double and 1 bunk, suitable for a family of 4 and our 6 bed family room contains 1 double, 2 bunks**
Family = parents/guardians + children under 18 years of age.
Note Minimum charge of 16.00/person will be charged for over 18's.
Full facilities for disabled persons.
If the room type you require is not available a larger room can be booked.
A discount will be applied at check in only if smaller room was not available at time of booking.
No under 18's without parents.

Directions
There is no direct bus link to Carron.
It is ideally suited to couples & families with own transport. Situated in the heart of the famous Burren, Shannon Airport is 50 mins drive.
From Shannon Airport;
Leave airport and follow signs for Galway.
Take turnoff for Ennis and follow signs for Ennistymon
N85
After leaving Ennis about 1 km turn right to Corofin R476
Take R476 through Corofin to Leaminagh Castle and turn right in front of the castle onto R480.
Take this road for about 2 kms and turn right for Carran/Carron onto L1014.
Hostel is about 3 miles ( 5 kms) on left before the pub.
