Latest Review for Mount of Olives Hotel

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Great value, clean room. Basic facilities. Nothing fancy but everything you need after a busy day of sightseeing. Not for staying all day in the hotel. Located in the eastern part in the palestinian part, close to the monuments on the mountain but little away from the center. Old city is easy to reach by foot, the Gethsemaney Garden is on the way there. The staff was very kind and helpful.

This was my first visit to Jerusalem and I stayed three nights. The room was clean and orderly, the carpet could have been a little cleaner but no biggie. The hotel service was excellent and the included breakfast ok. This hotel is in the East side of the city, the Muslim side but I didn't have any problems, everyone was very nice. There aren't many restaurants in the area, only one which was fine. My room had great views of Jerusalem but the trade off was lots of street noise. Of course street noise has been a problem at many European hotels where I've stayed. My solution is to use ear plugs, the soft swimming type, they work great. I would stay there again and recommend the hotel, good value for the money. The best way to get into the Old City and more commercial areas is by taxi. The rooms have combo safes, a nice addition for a budget hotel, but no elevator. The hotel has free wireless and free workstations on the ground floor. A good deal.

Keep in mind -- the hotel in East, palestinian Jerusalem part. So you don't see jewish people here, except police in heavy armored cars.
But for me it also part of the trip.

Very nice view from road, when you go to Old City and Western Jerusalem, but when you come back it maybe good idea go by taxi, instead trying to climb by foot.

Hotel quite nice, but it's near mosque, so you may be woken up in early morning by muezzin call.

Directions

Directions From Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv
To Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives Hotel

From Ben Gurion airport, take Highway One east to Jerusalem. It is approx. a 50 minute drive. Upon arrival, follow the signs to the Old City. Go clockwise around the historic golden walls of Jerusalem from Damascus Gate to Lion's Gate. The incline of the Mount of Olives is just opposite Lion's Gate. Continue along the road a bit further until you reach the The Garden of Gethsemene. Look for the Church of All Nations, turn left and continue eastward & up. After a fairly steep climb, the twisting & narrow road will suddenly end in a 'T'. Turn right and drive about 15 meters. The hotel is located exactly next door to the Chapel of the Ascension.
