Kangaroo Is great,
Its more like a student house than a backpackers hostel,
The other people here had stayed here a while and are great fun, it is very much laid back
and easy,
The people who run Kangaroo do nights out like to a pub that does tacos what is fun,
dvd nights. etc,Its a walk to the main part of Sydney but you get used to that but its closer to the main superstore so its evens its self out.
Ant who works there is a good guy, knows allot about there area that will help you out
if you are new to Sydney like I was,I have been here for a week and booked another week as it is very nice here.
If your passing though Sydney then I would recommenced A********

Kangaroo Bakpak is a great place to stay, it is a bit far out from the city but only a 20min walk to Oxford Street and 15min walk to Central station so not too bad.
Jamie and Luke are doing a great job running the place and make you feel very welcome. They always ask if you want to join in on nights out or day trips but you never feel pressured to go.
We stayed here for over 3 weeks and in the end it felt less like a hostel and more like a home. We felt really comfortable here. All of the people were really nice and we was able to chill out in the evenings watching films. The beds are very comfortable and everywhere is really clean. There are lots of bathrooms with clean/hot showers, there is always one available. The free breakfast is great as well.
We were sad to leave and definetly wouldn't stay anywhere else in Sydney!
I stayed at Kangaroo Bak Pak for one week. I found it to be very clean and new. All new bathrooms and dorm rooms. The staff helped me find a car and were very nice. If you want a smaller clean hostel then stay here.

If your thinking of coming to Sydney to experience one of the greatest cities in Australia then Kangaroo BakPak Sydney is the place for you. Everyone who stays with us says the same thing "It feels like a home", and that is exactly what we want it to be. Our dorm beds are semi-private with walls partially covering the beds, allowing guests to feel more comfortable while maintaining a social atmosphere. We are also the only hostel that has bed lockers with electrical sockets inside, and so if you are charging your new iPhone you can go exploring with the knowledge that your phone is safe. Also, unlike many other hostels in Sydney, our bathroom ratio is so high that our hostel always has a free one for you to use, allowing you more time to do what you want.
Set in a beautifully restored Victorian style terrace. Kangaroo Bakpak is a relaxed and friendly place where travelers can enjoy all of the beauty that Sydney living has to offer.
The Surry Hills area is an eclectic mix of world cultures. Some of Sydney's best cheap eats are within a stones throw. A pub or bar is available to suit every style and if you enjoy a good coffee there are a number of trendy cafes all within the local area.

Dorms have partitions for each bed that enclose the end for extra privacy. Beds have their own reading light, electrical plug socket, and lockable 'Bunk Box' for valuables.

By Plane
If you are arriving at Sydney airport take the Airport and East Hills train (CityRail) to Central station and then you can either walk, take the bus or taxi to the hostel.
By Train
All trins stop at central station. From here you can take the bus.
By Bus
All buses will drop you off at central station and you can either walk (10 Minutes), take one of these buses: 393, 372, M50, or get a taxi for around $5.
