Note: the price on TP says its USD $62/ night for a private room. But when we got there and paid the owner said the price was only $37/night (187.5 Arg Pesos) including the extra 21% tax fee and that it was wrong on TP.

But when we got there and paid the owner said the price was only $37/night (187.5 Arg Pesos) including the extra 21% tax fee and that it was wrong on TP. He didn't understand that we had paid 10% already and wouldn't honor it, but since we paid nearly half the cost of what we expected, we stopped arguing. I don't think he's very Internet savvy. It's been 2 1/2 months since we stayed there.
This hostel consists of two main buildings. The house in front has some rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and common area. But the newer building in the back is where you want to hang out. It has a huge kitchen with lots of high quality stove burners and a BBQ, large table area, clean community bathrooms and wifi. The rooms are outside lining the property and are actually shipping containers. The private rooms are the size of a shoe box, but have heaters and a window with views of the mountains. So they are nice and cozy after a long day of hiking. The town is tiny, so no matter where you stay you have a quick walk to all the trailheads. But this place was good value for the awesome common area. Make sure you get all your groceries, especially produce in El Calafate as supplies are limited in El Chalten and produce is minimal to dingy. El Chalten is the best and most beautiful hiking, also most affordable in Patagonia (Arg/Chile)!!! Must go and spend at least 4 nights. Must hike: Laguna de Los Tres and Laguna Torre! Lots more to explore as well. We would stay here again.

Lo De Trivi was a wonderful place to stay. They have a great kitchen, including a barrilla area. They clean everyday. The staff is friendly and aiming to please. The rooms are a bit cozy, but warm. The beds are very comfortable and quiet.
Lo de Trivi isn't fancy, but it is charming, friendly, and affordable. It's a good option to take when in Chalten.
The beer is inexpensive..;-D
Lo de Trivi is within a five minute walk of the Cerro Fitzroy Trailhead, as well as the north trail to Laguna de Torre Trailhead as well.
I stayed for 9 days, and I will stay there again when i return to Chalten.
