A real home from home with free bike hire, a swimming pool, free breakfast and internet. Based in a more local area away from the very busy centre. Here you can feel the real mexico whilst staying in quality accommodation with all of your home comforts.

In the hostel we have lots of outdoor and common space including an outdoor guest kitchen, a BBQ area and an outdoor dining area. There is a lovely shaded chill out area with hammocks and cushions to relax in the day or in the evenings and a beautiful swimming pool to cool off on those hot Caribbean days. We also have an indoor living room with cable TV and a DVD player if you just want to relax and watch a film. With your stay we offer a good free breakfast. A great way to meet people is over the dinner table so that's why we have fantastic home cooked dinners every night for less than a fiver and a BBQ on most Sundays. In casa del Shiva we try to offer all of the home comforts with lots of opportunity to meet fellow travelers.

We have 2 lovely dorms. A 6 bed mixed dorm, and a beautiful 4 bed girls only dorm, this pink themed girls room includes a hair dryer and complementary cotton buds and cotton pads to give the 'own bedroom feel. Our dorms are bright, spotlessly clean and spacious and include comfy beds with fresh linen, reading lights, personal power points and Security lockers. They have fans and A/C. Breakfast is included.

We have 4 types of private rooms available

A standard single room or a double room with a double bed and a TV with a DVD player A Ground floor king-size room with a king-size bed, an en-suite bathroom and a sofa. This room can be converted into a twin or a triple or even a quad. We now have a brand new tropical themed king-size room with a king-size bed, an en-suite bathroom, a balcony with a pool view and a sofa. It is the nicest room in the house. Can also be converted into a twin. All of our private rooms have a ceiling fan and AC. Breakfast is included.

For those who love the outdoors and are traveling on a budget we also have tents outside. These include, a mat, pillows, linen, a small light and a mosquito net. Those who book the tent can enjoy the use of our outside facilities such as our swimming pool, outside bathrooms, kitchen, dining area and chill out areas. Breakfast is not included but is available for only 25 pesos.

Casa del Shiva is based in a more local, colourful area, slightly away from the mayhem of the very busy center in Playa del Carmen. The center and the beaches are still very easily reached down one straight road which takes less than 10 mins on a bike or bus! (bikes are free to rent at the hostel and buses come every minute from outside!!) So you are still only 10 mins away from paradise Caribbean beaches
