Although we are in the centre of Florence, it is a quiet hotel and the rooms on the back are facing inside gardens. All 7 rooms are very comfortable, spacious and bright, some of them have a balcony. The accommodation is in a very useful(and cheaper) part of the city with little grocery stores nearby. It is less than ten minutes walk from the railway station(with heavy bags) and has some good places to eat nearby. We could walk via Piazza San Marco to the Academia and Museum of Archaeology(where there is a great Gelateria) and down to il Duomo in about ten minutes. It has a great view over the rooftops to the west of the city to the hills. What lets it down are two things: the access is managed by the accommodation across the road and they are more concerned(unsurprisingly) with their own properties and clients(which means access and paying is a bit haphazard) and the second is that it didnt look like it had been thoroughly cleaned for a long time - access was by a lift to the fourth floor of a building and then through what looked like an unfinished renovation project; the shower still had the remains of the last occupants shower and had too much mildew on it - it wouldnt be so expensive to replace the shower cubicle and improve it significantly - and their drinks bottles were sat on the balcony still when we arrived. The walls had marks on them and the sink had a crack in it. It also seemed to have an ant problem. If you want somewhere not too expensive and close to the town, it is good and if you dont mind that it hasnt the best hygiene it is a good budget option but I would recommend spending a few euros more per night and getting something a little nicer.
