Hilten Surf Hut, Matara, Sri Lanka

Welcome to Hilten Surf Hut, located right in the beach in the small fishing village of Midigama.It has a local community with approx. 1.500 inhabitants. We count with 11 rooms, Wi Fi, massage facility, Yoga room, restaurant and a sand garden overlooking the famous surf break 'Lazy Left'.

Hilten Surf Hut in Midigama is an alternative for the more touristic spots along the south coast of Sri Lanka. This beach is a little paradise that counts with a natural 'swimming pool' for kids and adults, as well as the famous 'Lazy Left' surf break, 1 minute paddle from our beachfront.

‘The Hilten Surf Hut’, aims to be a home away from home. This is a place to chill out, to socialize, to meditate, to play GAMES, to listen to great music, to lie on the sand, join our dinner parties and the occasional bonfire on the beach.

WI FI: free.

SURFBOARD RENTAL and SURF LESSONS: We have a variety of surfboards for rent. We also organize surf lessons for beginners and advanced surfers who wish to improve their technique.

YOGA and MEDITATION: Ask our staff and head towards the peaceful environment of the first floor. We provide a beach view, palm trees and the light wind on your skin.

To PLAY beach and table GAMES: just ask our friendly staff at the bar.

MASSAGE: You can have ½ hour or 1 hour massages with our masseur. Our masseur has been trained in 5 different types of massage and has more than 800 hours of experience with surfers as well as any other kind of person. Just ask our friendly staff at the bar.

You can also head down to the beach at 5:30am to experience a mythical moment; FISHERMEN ON THEIR STILTS catching all kinds of exotic fish. This is a tradition of this area only, and it happens 20 meters to the left of the beach.

TOURS ON OFFER: From WHALE WATCHING to TEA PLANTATIONS & FACTORY, or experiencing the stunning FORT IN GALLE. Also going to YALA NATIONAL PARK for day Safari or staying the night, going as far as a hike to ADAMS PEAK or visiting SNAKE FARMS, SPICE GARDENS, etc., located all in this beautiful area.

FROM THE AIRPORT:

Private taxi: We offer pickup anytime, (3.5 hrs. drive).

Taking public transport: Take bus to Colombo Fort, (main bus stop). From main bus stop take any bus towards Matara, get off in Midigama clock tower. (6 hrs. altogether journey)
