Very bad value for money. Rooms were basic and clean but it felt more like a prison cell. Mainly disappointed with the city of Vientiane as well.

About Funky Monkey Hostel

The Funky Monkey hostel offers 8 and 16 bed dorms and private rooms all with A/C, Wi-Fi, laundry service, lockers (buy your own lock), 24 hour security and reception, a breakfast “bar” with food and drinks in the lobby and free tourist information with maps and consultation which includes visa service, bus tickets, airline tickets, train tickets and some tours to Vietnam and other parts of Asia. There is a common room with Wi-Fi, TV, A/C, pool table, sofa’s etc and beer/soft drinks so you can meet other backpackers or just relax away from the heat.

We have a very friendly and knowledgeable staff that can speak English and are happy to help you.

We are centrally located, close to the night market on the river and other sight seeing attractions.

The Funky Monkey Hostel is 15km from the airport, 25km from the Friendship Bridge and about 1.5km from the bus station. Tell the Tuk Tuk or taxi driver, Funky Monkey, Rue Francois Nign, Ban Mixay, Chanthabouly District near Vat Mixay.
