The Butterfly Lodge exists to make a difference. It provides the financial support needed for the Foundation, which runs the day care centre and supports other centres in the poorer districts of Pokhara. Over 100 poor children are supported by the Foundation to go to school, with their school fees being paid, along with books and uniforms. In addition, recently the Butterfly Foundation has provided micro-finance loans to a couple of women who have started weaving as a way to make income. Donors sometimes ask the Butterfly Foundation to manage a range of projects like building a bridge, renovating a school or providing toilets.
