This place was great! If you are looking for a good value with great service in Kyoto this place is for you. It's located nice and centrally so it's easy to get around. They rent bikes for 500 yen a day or if you just need one for an hour or two it's free! The staff is really friendly, they cook a shared pot for dinner that anyone can join in on. They have a really nice common room to relax in in the evenings. We were there for two nights on our honeymoon and Yuko, one of the staff there, made us a special tray of cakes to celebrate one evening. We will definitely stay there again if we go back to Kyoto.

The staff at this hostel are great! Very friendly and good at English, they try their best to make you feel at home. We stayed in the mixed dorm - the privacy curtain offers much more privacy than other dorms, and the large lockers they provided were a rare luxury in Japan. The shared common room was a Japanese style tatami floor room, and gave the dorm a very homely feel - great for chilling out in and meeting other travellers. Overall we had a great experience staying at this hostel and will definitely come back next time we visit Kyoto!
